I thought Coca Cola's strategy (at least in Europe) was not to get hooked up with individual clubs but to be more about what it's like being a fan.Originally posted by Quinncy View PostSome companies were already in the running as soon as we revealed plans to build a new stadium.Having yank owners increases the chance of the sponsor being yank.Do Coca cola sponsor any other stadiums in Europe.Do they need this type of advertising?
So many questions, interesting times at `pool!
It's bull**** of course but within marketing terms there is a big difference between the two approaches..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

I'm all for looking at the option of naming rights for the new stadium.
If it brings in big money - which it obviously will then why not!
At the end of the day we're leaving Anfield, and although I'll still call the new stadium 'Anfield' it will not be the same as the ground which gave us all those wonderful memories of past glories. We'll produce a new chapter in the history of LFC and that will include the new stadium, with it's new name - whatever it will be!
For me, what's important is how well we're doing on the pitch, how many trophies we've won, and when we can finally win The Premiership! Unfortunately, these days it's all about money. If you don't have much then you don't succeed, end of. All the successful clubs have money and the more money you have then obviously the more chance you have of being a success.
If we sell the naming rights for our new stadium and that provided us with a better squad of players then I'm all for that, as it must surely then give us a better chance of claiming number 19.
I don't share the thought that we'd be 'selling our soul' as the old and famous Anfield will be gone (but not ever forgotten), and for me, not wanting to sell the naming rights is just spiting ourselves, ain't it?! The new owners have already stated that they'd look into naming the stadium if it meant us having the money to splash out on a big name player every season, so we must trust them on that and see what comes of it.
I'm really positive following yesterday's announcements and am now looking forward to seeing what develops in the coming months!

Sad as it is we have to move on. The reason the board and ownership were allowed to get away with not taking us anywhere for so long was because there are so many LFC fans living in the past. yes, it's great to be nostalgic and look back on what we were but we need to get to the next level - we ain't gonna do that standing still - as have been proved in recent years!I live with Steptoe.

No, they did not. They got £90M for 8 years of shirt sponsorship and 15 years of naming rights. That's probably about £3M a year for the stadium name.Originally posted by AFII View PostI think that we will get a lot more than £100m for the naming rights. Arsenal got £100m and they are a smaller club than us.
The new stadium won't be Anfield anyway. It will be a completly new stadium.
Anfield is Anfield and a new stadium can't replace that.
The sponsorship fees, of £90 million, will significantly enhance Arsenal's commercial revenues over the contract term. The sponsorship fees, which are payable by instalments, will provide Arsenal with operational cash-flows of £72 million between 2005 and 2012 with the remaining £18 million receivable between 2013 and 2020. The present value of these sponsorship cash-flows, discounted at Arsenal's standard cost of capital and referenced against equivalent straight line cash-flows, indicates that the absolute value of the deal to Arsenal is in excess of £100 million. In addition to the sponsorship fees Arsenal can earn bonuses based on team performance in each of the seasons up to and including 2013/14.Last edited by Hansi; 07-02-07, 01:29 PM.

So, we sold out and got investment. Great!
We get the new stadium. Great!
And then the trads roll out and cry about a name!
It won't be anfield, so it doesn't matter.
What matters is that we can compete.
We will probably call the stadium whatever we want anyway.--== Because the gang and the government is no different ==--
