Right. I have a question. I've not read through the plethora of GG/Hicks threads, so forgive me if this has been covered already.

Is it too late for us to tear up the current stadium plans and let Hicks, the don of modern stadia, do his thang? I HATE the look of our proposed stadium - all these faceless, soulless concrete bowls do my bloody head in, and I rather hoped our ground would stand out from the crowd. Not so, if the 'images' of the proposal are to be believed.

I watched the press conference in full and saw Hicks say he'll be flying his own people over to have a look - but realistically, how many changes could Hicks make? Anybody?

If someone is going to give the club 50m – 100m in order to have their name in front of the stadium then I’m all for it.

I'd quite happily see us play in the Skoda Autodealers Association Stadium for 100m in the bank.
Been away from here so won't read the ENTIRE thread but what are people's thoughts.

When it comes to renaming the stadium will the new sponsors want to still call it Anfield or get rid of that altogther.

eg The Adidas Anfield Stadium or just The Adidas Stadium.

If I was a sponsor I'd want to be linked to the name Anfield but I don't know how these people think?

What's the view of those more in tune with business than I?

Hicks has sent his people in. You can change some aspects of a plan but in general you cannot change the overall structure. It is possible we may end of with more toilets etc (I really don't know) but there cannot be any changes to capacity or overall appearance without resubmission of plans for approval...and we haven't got the time.

          Cheers for that.

I would imagine the new stadium wouldn't have the word Anfield in it as all the other clubs that have built new sponsored stadia have done this. The best eg is arsenal, they didn't call it the Emirates Highbury Stadium. i would imagine that this is because if it has the word anfield in it, everone will simply call it Anfield & Addidas or whoever won't have that.

i stand to be corrected but I can't think of any new stadium that has a sponsor that also incorporates the old stadium name.

If you read through my replies in one of the many stadium threads you'll see I said more or less the same as Red_Al_77. I think Hicks' people will increase the quality of the materials used (better seats, toilets, executive boxes, corporate hospitality areas, etc) and possibly some of the exterior features but they cannot change the fundamental design of the stadium without re-submitting the planning application which would set us back years.

As it happens I think our new stadium design is quite good. It's not unique but new stadia rarely are. However, you get what you pay for and £215m will not buy you a Wembley and even, in todays terms, will not buy you a Millennium Stadium. However, the design to me is incidental to keeping the unique and special atmosphere that we generate occasionally at Anfield. If we can retain that traditional "on top of the pitch" British atmosphere within a modern stadium with better facilities I'll be more than happy...

I agree with all of that. Who cares what a stadium looks like from the outside, as long as it functions like the current anfield can (noise) and is cheap. Then i'll be happy.

Also chuffed with the location as well.

Excellent stuff. I hope you're right about Hicks' intervention and his ideas.

It's not about "what it looks like" for me. I want us to have steeper stands to make it more intimidating. I want the stands really close to the pitch. I'd love us to have one huge stand behind one of the goals, to keep the spirit of the Kop alive.

Obviously much of that responsibility is in our hands as fans - but stands with a steeper incline fuel so much of that 'intimidatory' factor.

The best example I've been to that combines design, atmosphere and modern facilities is this place:

                    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westfalenstadion

Interestingly, it has been renamed after a sponsor since December 2005!

                      Something like this perhaps?

**** yeah. I was gonna ask if that was the Boca stadium, but I see in the link above, as I type, that it is. The Bombonera

A stadium like that would be heaven.

From what I've seen of it, it looks amazing - like a true gladiatorial arena:
