What, and Crouch doesn't "miss gilt-edged chances virtually every week" Shaggy?Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostMate he misses gilt-edged chances virtually every week. All strikers do, I know, but he misses more than most. Too many.
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?

I like Kuyt and I think he offers alot to the team. He's not a clinical finisher but he can score goals. If he'd scored today it could have been a whole different game and we would all have been praising him but as we know there are no margins for error at the top level.Babel fanclub member # 4!!!

It's not like that at all Bazza.Originally posted by fredo View PostStop slating the players guys ... that's becoming boring. When we win they are the best in the world, but when we lose, they are a shower of shiiiiite.
It's 17 years without the league title, It's 3 years under Rafa with nothing even resembling a title challenge, It's 16 points behind the mancs...
It's not ****ing good enough.

We lack that killer instinct ... We need a top class finisher upfront but today was down to luck really. Bellers had two clear chances after his goal and we were flying at that time. We were playing some terrific one touch football on the break and carved them open at will. Kuyt blew that chance early on second half also ... That's becoming a recurring theme. Was fuming too mate, threw a plastic bottle on a door when someone started to wind me up with Manure being 16 points above us.Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostI'm ****ing FUUUUUUUUUUUUMING and my weekend is ruined!!!!!!!!!

Its a very disappointing result indeed but we all knew before this game that we are without a top drawer striker(which is why i started a thread about who we should sign up front last night) the only thing that has changed since yesterday is that we might need two. Bellamy is quick but his finishing is not clinical and Kuyt works his ass off but plays too deep. Crouch....7 foot tall and cant head the ball.

If Rooney's one of the world's best strikers, how come he scores so few goals? It took him until his third season to pass the 20 league goals total, has scored around 10 or so this season - hardly remarkable - and just went two years without scoring in competitive internationalsOriginally posted by Sir Bob View PostCouldn't agree more mate. Lets face it, Kuyt works his nuts off but at the very highest level is limited. Look at the top 4's main strikers, Rooney, Drogba, Henry & Kuyt. 3 of the world's best & by comparison, 1 very ordinary player. if we are to compete for the title, we need more quality up front. i'm afraid a striking force of Kuyt, Bellamy & Crouch is way short of the required standard.

I'm kinda feeling the same. Absolutely gutted. They never won, we threw it away which makes this worse.Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostI'm ****ing FUUUUUUUUUUUUMING and my weekend is ruined!!!!!!!!!

Kuyt works his socks off in game after game and he is our best striker, no question about that IMO. His work today meant that Bellamy had load of space to work with. Kuyt should have scored but Bellamy should have scored three today.
We need new strikers but at least Kuyt can blame that he is played out of position. He plays more on the left, right or central midfield than as a striker. He covers up when Pennant drifted inside and when Zenden did the same.Just believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Kuyt is an excellent player and I can't understand why some of you are criticizing him. He works his socks off and because of that, he may lose some of his lucidity in front of goal ... That'll come when he's more at ease with the English game.Originally posted by Redspin View PostIf Rooney's one of the world's best strikers, how come he scores so few goals?
