I'm not knocking Kuyt because we lost, I've not thought he looks good enough since he arrived. Hard working player, yes, top quality player, no.
And players like Rooney are so easy to come by aren't they?

As I said before how many other players have not been up to their usual standard in their first season in the prem? It takes time to settle but it would seem that if you're not an instant success then you're not good enough, eh?! Kuyt has already done better in one season than some other players did who are now superstars.

I saw that you pointed to Drogba as a good signing in another thread. I bet you weren't saying that in his forst season!

Bergkamp's a different type player though, surely ?

Kuyt was supposed to be THE elusive goalscorer for this season.

I would sell Bellamy and Crouch before Kuyt.

I doubt that Rafa will sign three or four new strikers and that means that Kuyt stays IMO.

Give Kuyt a chance as a striker for a few games instead playing him in the midfield. Then we could judge him after that.

I don't think it's fair to judge a striker when the striker plays as a midfielder.

I'm not judging Kuyt on todays game, but on his performances since he joined & when I've seen him for holland. He works very hard but thats about it for me. i must be watching a different player to many on here, because I've seen nothing from him that leads me to think he can lead a team to the title. If a suitable offer came in for any of our strikers, I'd sell them.

Once again spot on. Careful AF, you'll be getting a reputation!!

Of course they aren't easy to come by, thats the whole point. But if we are to compete with Man U, & Chelsea next season we need a forward as good as Rooney or Drogba. Kuyt is n't good enough, that my whole point, but many on here feel he is.

Put it another way, if you are naming the best strikers in the league, none of ours are in the top 10 for me.

Different type perhaps but similar positionally. Kuyt's record of creating goals is pretty good like. Anyway I'm not comparing the two other than pointing out that Bergkamp was very average in his first season here

And your second line, well that's kind-of the crux of the matter. Was he? Who said so? Play Kuyt alongside a genuine finisher (a young Fowler would do nicely) and I think in a season's time we'd be very very happy. And I wouldn't be suprised if he did score 20 next season at all.

I would sell him to but not before any of our other strikers.

Kuyt plays much deeper now than he did for Feyenoord.

Bellamy and Crouch have showed that they aren't good enough but Kuyt hasn't really had a fair chance to show what he can do as a striker yet.

I will be very if Bellamy and Crouch plays for us next season. We need better strikers than them.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Newcastle didn't deserve to win the game today. They had NO chances apart that slip up for the first goal and a dubious penalty in the second half. With a bit more luck we should have won that game at a canter. Don't forget Manure drew on this ground.

Thought we played really well going forward on that pitch and we had plenty of pace in our passing. Momo and Stevie were getting stuck in and provided terrific balance in the centre. It's just the score which wasn't good enough really ... Most of you are doom mongers.

I've been saying for ages that our foward line isn't good enough and got slated for it. Kuyt's league goals record isnt far off 1 in 2, which isn't bad for his first season. But we desperately need a top, top goalscorer to play alongside him. Hate to say "I told you so" but I've been saying it since the beginning of the season. Fowler, Crouch and Bellamy just aren't good enough for an LFC 1st 11 if we're going to challenge. We waste far too many chances when we need to put teams away.

There are 11 Premiership games to go this season, he could easily score 4 or 5 from the remaining games. That would give him (if it happens) a tally of around 15 goals.

If that were to happen we would have to be happy with his contribution in his 1st season.
