Carson won't be a great loss. At £ 5 million, that would be a great piece of business.

In an ideal world I’d love to keep Carson as our long term number two, but he’s not gonna want to spend a large chunk of his career as a substitute. A fee of around £5m would represent a fantastic profit, so I’d be very tempted to sell. He’s nowhere near Reina’s class.

Is the right answer. God forbid we had a Cech situation, but it can happen. The second keeper MUST be as good as the first... We'd be royally ****ed at the moment.

Carson would be ideal back-up IMO.

Do you really believe that if he's that good he would settle for a place on the bench ? The situation with goal keepers is different because they hardly need a break. The only problem we would face is when Pepe gets a long term injury.

But tell me how many sides have their 1st and 2nd choice keepers at the same level ? Not many ... Manure have got this polish keeper, Arsenal have got Almunia, Chelsea have got Ricardo ... the list is long. Second choice keepers only have to be good 'on average' and an experienced one is better than a young keeper.

Dudek is just short of confidence IMO. And that was just freakish what he encountered during the couple of games he had to play against Arsenal.

I see what you're saying, but Carson's experiences this season have now put paid to him being our number 2.
He either comes back as number 1, or he doesn't come back. We don't want a situation where we have 2 'keepers sharing the goalkeeping jersey, IMO.
This leads to confusion and affects the confidence level of both players. I can't remember a situation where it has worked.
If you look at all leading PL teams of the last while - there's always been an established number 1 (Schmeicheal, Seaman, Cech, Van der Sar) and a competent number 2. The chances of having a reserve 'keeper of the calibre and experience of Cuducini are slim.

I would be shocked if he went to Arsenal.

I think he would benefit from a loan at a team who are doing well, either in the Championship or abroad. I think he has the talent but none of the experience necissary to challenge Reina at the minute. He will learn very little playing for poor teams and I don't see that he is ready for either Arsenal or ourselves at present.

I'd sell Carson for 5mil instantly. But would probably think this through, because the last thing I'd want to do is to strenghten the enemy.

Anyways 5 million pounds is a great price! Reina was 6 million, so... Compare Reina and Carson. I'd sell Scotty!

I dont have a problem selling him as long as it is not to one of our nearest rivals

                      I'd trade him for either

                      Cesc
                      Henry
                      Clichy
                      Gilberto

                        what he said.

english talent comes at a higher cost. if arsenal want carson they can have him as far as im concerned.

i dont think he will ever fulfil his potential in a liverpool shirt. sadly its the case for many of our youngsters.

if i was scott carson i would move to a smaller club though. he needs more time playing regular games.

the spotlight will be on him at arsenal and he is prone to the odd error that would get exaggerated.

somewhere like reading would suite him.

just my opinion, but carson has never really convinced me. i know there are fans out there, but i just cant see why.

He's never convinced me either mate.

You're right though, we should demand more for him. If he played for Birmingham City, you could guarantee they'd get £8m minimum for him. I'm sick of us being a soft touch when it comes to selling players.

it's worrying that too many of us are thinking like small club fans, we should worry about the players we have and want, players departing can go anywhere. yes arsenal are one of our rivals and if they want to buy one of our players they should expect to pay a premium, but if they are prepared to pay up for a back up player so be it. if they want a star, sod them, if they want a back up good for them.

Clichy is rubbish & was at fault for wigan's goal.

Theres no way arsenal would consider swapping the any of other 3 for Carson
