Ok its seperated by a walkway horizontally through the middle. ITs a feature that Can not be avoided due to health and safety reasons in the new design, the architects seemed to have as much as possible to keep it as one tier, it does still have a single tier feel to it though, its just like taking out a couple of rows of seats. No petition is going to stop us putting this feature in, no matter how determined you are.

'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Taken from the Liverpool.no article yesterday:
Den ansvarlige for Liverpools stadion forteller at hele stadion vil bli som en oval bolle uten noen åpne hjørner. The Kop vil bli en enkeltstående tribune slik som nå, mens den øvrige stadion vil bestå av en øvre og nedre del med luksusbokser hele veien i en midtseksjon

The stadium will be a oval bowl with closed corners. The Kop will be one section, just as it is. The rest will have two tiers, with exec. boxes all the way around.
                    Blank

The end opposite to the kop (current Anfield Road end) will be identical to the kop in design.

All these pics are quite old and they do show a horizontal divide across the ends which was intended to accommodate disabled fans.

However, Parry has said that the plans have changed since these illustrations were done and that the new Kop shall be a single unbroken tier. Can't seem to find the article though.

I'm positive that I've read it several times in a couple of different places over the course of the past year or so. I just can't remember where. Just tried Googling for it, but no joy.

I've seen that too, it was doing the rounds on the websites back in Spetember/October i think. It was the stadium manager saying that the design of the new kop (so-called 'Kop3') had been changed slightly to single tier and an extra 1,000 or so seats - so the new capacity would be closer to 62,000. It's a change from the original planning application but not major enough to warrant the whole project having to be looked at again.

I remember reading an interview in which Parry said that because the stadium was going to have 4 separate stands, it meant that they would be able to make one of the stand unique and dramatic, making this the New Kop, I really do believe that if they can make it a single tier, then they will.
