Very true. I think his brother in law works for one of the big sports papers out there as well.Originally posted by Hass View PostThe last thing i'd call Figaro is t**t, he works for Seville Fc as a translator and has a lot of sources within Spain. He's very much in the know. Whatever he says, listen because there aren't many occasions where he's wrong.I live with Steptoe.

I find it funny how when an english player says he doesn't want to play abroad, as S.G. has said numerous times over the years, when rumours about italian/spanish clubs were about, people are very happy and confident to accept that as word from him.
When someone like David Villa is in essence saying the same thing, probably for the same reasons Stevie and other english have said it in the past ie, they love their own culture, language, are suited to their home league better, people are more than happy to dismiss that and say of course he'll leave if the money is right
Is there any difference between Villa saying these things and been disbelieved or it debated that off course he'll leave for the right amount of cash, or stevie g saying the equivalent as an englishman, and no-one doubting his word as much?
Basically, I've no idea whether villa will or won't leave, just find it amusing the kind of double standard when an englishman quotes similar sentiments to a foreign player, but one is believed above another

GUILLEM ANSWERS YOUR QUESTIONS
WHO WILL RAFA SIGN?
Hi Guillem, I am a fan of your La Liga analysis. As a Liverpool fan I will be watching very closely the transfer gossip in Spain, especially now that Benitez has a bigger war chest. You have written a book on Rafa and probably know him better than any other journalist. Do you predict heavy spending by the shrewd tactician? Will the spending be concentrated in Spain or will he look in the Premiership or else where? What will the realistic prices be
of Benitez's targets (Alves, Villa, Woodgate, Simao Etc.)? Will Liverpool have more movement in the Spanish market than Barcelona and Madrid?
Husni, Dubai
GUILLEM SAYS: I think Liverpool will have lots of money, not £200m as has been reported, but enough to make two or three changes that Benitez wants to make to the side - on the wings and up front. It will not be easy because where are the strikers? I can think of David Trezeguet and Miroslav Klose who are established or maybe he will go for Rodrigo Palacios of Boca Juniors or someone like that which may be a risk. There is no guarantee of success with anybody who will cost below £20m. I think Benitez would rather have players who are very good, even better than they already have, but not stars. So I think it will be clever spending rather than big spending. I do not think David Villa will come into the equation or Fernando Torres. If there were players in Spain that were good enough to make it in the Premiership then they may come. The problem is now that Benitez knows what is required and you don't get too many players in la Liga that can succeed in the Premiership. The future you have, tomorrow, won't be the same future you had, yesterday.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.
