Well, I’m not terribly excited about it either tbh.
Looking at it as the eternal optimist that I am though, his stats are not very dissimilar to Bellamy’s really, (AV has 6 goals, 6 assists – CB has 7 goals, 4 assists) albeit in a different league.
I think he’ll be a slight improvement on the 2007 model of Robbie Fowler, but I would hope we’re as lucky with injuries to our frontmen next season as we have been this season…..

To me Voronin has got the makings of a bit of a cult hero.

He doesn't look the most elegant, and his pony-tail will only make him stand out more, but by all accounts he works hard and will get a few goals.

Question is, have we had enough of cult heroes now? We need those 2-3 top quality signings to make us consistent enough to challenge Man U and Chelsea. Voronin isn't one of those, but I'll give him his chance.

i think it's a bit crap, why on earth would we sign someone of his caliber, we don't need a forth striker, we've already got 3 striker that don't score that much surely crouch or bells can settle for being a back up striker, when/if we brin in a big gun...

I think Fowler will deffo go and one other so we will need more strikers, although I'm a bit annoyed that we are still getting players on freebies etc

Free fowler replacement. I reckon Fowler, Bellamy and probably Crouch will all be out at end of season. Voronin to be 4th choice then sold for profit in 6-12 months. Excellent FM2007 managing. Grab the freebies and make a few mil on them. We have to stop loosing so much money on transfers!

He might even surprise us all, it´s not like he´s used to playing in good teams is it? Mainz, Cologne and a rather poor Leverkusen team. He´s had two very good seasons though at least with a goal every other game.

As a fourth striker I´m satisfied, just.

Rafael Benitez has confirmed that Liverpool are close to completing a pre-contract agreement to sign Ukrainian striker Andriy Voronin in the summer.
The 27-year old currently plies his trade in the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen but is set to leave when his contract expires at the end of the season.

"We are close to a deal. The scouting department has been working on this possibility," said Benitez today.

"He is an experienced striker who played in the World Cup and has scored goals for Ukraine, playing with Andriy Shevchenko, as well Bayer Leverkusen. He finishes his contract in the summer."

Voronin has previously played for Cologne, Mainz and Borussia Moenchengladbach and also represented his country on 40 occasions, scoring five goals in the process.

And if it's more than £25M in cash, with any sales on top (Cisse etc), then I'd be surprised.

We are not going to go on a mad spending spree, nor should we, so posters thinking we are buying anything that moves on two legs worth over £50M, and anything free is just too cheap, are sadly going to be disappointed.

I think that we will sign two or three very expensive players and some very good youngsters in the summer.

Alves, Villa and maybe Richards would be my guess. Dos Santos will also probably be signed.

We have a very young team and the above players are also not that old. Rafa would not need to sign more or less anymore starting XI players the next two-three years if we signed them.

It would cost something like £70m+ to sign them but if you then count in that we wouldn't sign anymore very expensive players the next 2-3 years then we would be able to pay for them without any problems at all IMO.

Yes, and I'm serius. Hicks has showed that he isn't afraid to spend huge money in one season if he thinks it would have a good long time effect on the team.
