What we need is a Michael Owen/David Villa type of player. We also need a striker that is very good in the air, like Klose or Huntelaar.

Bellamy works hard for the team but he isn't clever enough on the pitch and that's the difference between him and Owen/Villa.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

The critical stats for a striker IMO is Total Goals to games started. It should be 1 goal for every 2 starts (50% +)

        Crouch Starts:22 Goals:13 Avge: 59%
        Kuijt Starts:27 Goals:10 Avge: 37%
        Bellamy Starts:24 Goals:8 Avge: 33%
        Fowler Starts:6 Goals:5 Avge: 83%

Only Crouch is making the grade so far. Interesting that Robbie is still doing well

          Incorrect.

Cisse got 9 league goals, but a **** load more in all competitions..

Bellamy has scored 8 goals in ALL COMPETITIONS. That's dire.

If we look at the league only:

Bellamy has 7 goals and 4 assists
Kuyt has 9 goals and 3 assists
Crouch has 6 goals and 6 assists
Fowler has 1 goal and no assist

Total from strikers 23 goals and 13 assists

            Compare that to United´s strikeforce:

Rooney has 10 goals and 8 assists
Saha has 8 goals and 5 assists
Solskjær has 6 goals and 2 assists
Larson has 1 goal and no assist
(Ronaldo has 15 goals and 8 assists)

Total from strikers 25 goals and 15 assists

            Arsenal:

Henry has 10 goals and 5 assists
Persie has 11 goals and 6 assists
Adebayor has 6 goals and 2 assists
Aliadere has no goals and no assists
(Fabregars has no goals but 10 assists)

Total from strikers 27 goals and 13 assists

            Chelsea:

Shevchenko has 3 goals and 3 assists
Drogba has 17 goals and 3 assists
Kalou has 2 goals and no assist
(Ballack has 4 goals and 3 assists)
(Lampard has 10 goals and 9 assists)

Total from strikers 22 goals and 6 assists

All in all, our strikers compare favourable to the other strike teams, these players share their duties with each other. Notable is Frank Lampards contribution and Drogba´s to Chelsea, they really are only a two men team!

statistics can be bent though and I think people are doing exactly that. Bellamy has scored 7 league goals in 18 league starts. That starts to look more respectable. By hge same token last season Cisse scored 9 in 33. However, I am not sure how many of thsoe were as a sub and also how many he played on the wing. He did not score a ****load more in other competitions either. He scored 8 in Europe and 2 in the FA Cup.

As far as other competitios are concerned then as a comparator you almost need to discount. The league is the only competition that you have like for ike competition. We have not had too many TNS/Kaunus games that a striker could bump up his record with.

So I would say at present, as a Premiership striker that Bellamy has a better strike rate although that is not a surprise as he is a better player.

Strange that! Most people on here seem to think that Lampard is a fat lump of ****e

                  Don't even go there mate.

If you start talking about Owen again I'm going to chuck my computer out of the window.

Yes, he seems quite useful to be fair, the difference between Liverpool and the other top sides is that there are a couple of players standing out for the other teams statistically while Liverpool share the responsibility.

                      He is

Gerrard would score a lot more goals if he didn't track back. Lampard isn't exactly working his socks off.

I just gave an example. I don't want us to sign him.

Villa is a much better player.

Could be, Gerrard has 4 goals and 5 assists plus he is third in the crosses count with 97, Pennant is number 11 with 74.

bellamy is not the poacher we need however i do think he is a valuable squad player and he can be a handfull for defences! we badly need a lethal finisher and top quality creative wingers that can go past defenders and chip in with a few goals aswel!

So who would Lampard replace then?

He wouldn't get in our team, we have better midfielders than him.

Lampard can only play in one position and he is more or less useless in any other position. We don't play with any attacking midfielder so he wouldn't get a place in our team.
