I was somewhat surprised that the stadium had the metal fencing, seemed like from another time and another world.

A minority, yes. I've got a mate who, when pissed up, still sings them. I've seen a "Munich 58" flag at an away game, and in the Main Stand against the SCUM in the Cup last season, far far too many people crumbled in the face of incessant Manc vitriol by giving it 'the aeroplane'.

It's pretty common on the continent still.

I agree - it doesn't feel right. I have to admit though that it was the first thing I thought of when I heard the news. I also wonder how it will be reported in a certain tabloid.

I should add that despite hating those c***s with a passion, I hope the Utd fans are ok and no one has been injured.

Because it really isn't a minority in their case. They sing songs about Heysel and Hillsborough EN MASSE, thousands upon thousands singing these reprehensible songs of hate. It is accepted at Old Trafford on a widespread scale, and their vociferous away support sing this poison incessantly.

                There's a clear difference.

That's my point. It's tit for tat but on a level where loyalty to a club comes before common sense. Sadly the fans still singing the songs from both sides are probably the ones that few people would care to challenge over it. Otherwise, I'm sure real fans would make them stop.

Just take a browse through Youtube and look at the comments on some videos. Thankfully they took that gimp's 'always look on the runway for ice'. His username munich5aside was a bit of a giveaway. He had more death threats than anything.

Back to what happened tonight, the picture on the bbc site is horrible.

I'm not so sure, not on their side. Look at Old Trafford - on the rare occasions they sing, you get 70,000, give or take a few, belting out 'murderers' and all the other bilge they chant. I know one or two Manc match goers who think it stinks, and think they ARE obsessed with us and ought to get behind their team instead of obsessing over us, but I know many, many more Manc match goers who ****ing love it and see no reason to stop baiting us.

Chilling innit. Never thought we'd see that again in a football ground. Or rather, I hoped we wouldn't.

Shaggys right, in the away games at least, most of the Manc singing is that "2 times song" .

As for that pic, horrible .
