Totti, Del Piero,Baresi, Puyol, Butrugueno (guessing here)... there must be others as well.

You could certainly make a case for the first two thought that not moving has led to them stagnating and not realising their full potential.

I tend to think that so long as we progress as a team and have a top manager willing to keep improving both Stevie and the team around him then there is no reason why he should need to move.

Yes, he is. What are you laughing at? Do you think he's average? Or not even that. If you do, I'd have to disagree. I can't really think of him ever putting a foot wrong in his career really....

However, in my opinion he's not world class.

I can't think of one 'world class' player who has remained with his first club throughout the whole of his career*.

Raul only played for Atletico on a youth contract though. He signed for Real when he was 15 after Atletico shut down their youth team.

I thought the point was from when they first signed for any club irrespective of youth contracts etc etc, thats just the way I read it. A la maldini, gerrard etc.
