Ribery is my preferred choice of winger too.
        Awesome player.

I think Rafa should take a punt on him.

                Giles Barnes plays in midfield.

Why should he come to us? To play in the reserves?

No to play on the wing, he's got the attributes to become a world class winger in my opinion.

Does he ever play there for Derby?

I was under the impression that he plays in the centre, Gerrard style, i.e. bursting into the box...

He does play on the wing for Derby occasionally, although I must admit I haven't seen many of their games.
But I take the Gerrard comparrison who incidently is getting played on the right wing for LFC

What I'm saying is, mould him into a class winger at an early age.

Heh. It's not enough we have to do it to Gerrard himself, we take a young Gerrard esque midfielder and do it to him also?

I've not seen enough of him to judge whether he'd be suited or not. I suppose it all depends on whether he actually wants to become a winger.

Personally, if I was him, I'm not so sure I'd want to go to Liverpool on some whimsical "we'll turn you into a winger" deal. We don't really have a good track record of integrating youth into the team in recent years. Unless you count Agger and Sissoko I suppose - I don't though.

If so, i'm praying we spend big money on all 3 positions - for the last 15 years we seem to have spent a lot of money on lots of mediocre players giving us strength in depth but no real added strength for the first team. To step up another gear we need 2 very good wingers who are much better than what we have (which shouldn't be too hard!) and a world class striker. Buying similar quality to what we have will get us nowhere - this has been proven. I think we're fine for centre backs and full backs, goalkeeping doesn't need any investment yet, we've got more than enough central/defensive midfielders, and we've got 2 pretty decent forwards in kuyt and crouch.

But who do we buy? realistically, no player is out of our reach. we've got the money, the manager, the history, we're in the right league and we've got a handful of players that most people would dream about playing alongside.

Striker = has to be Villa or Torres?
                          Wingers = any suggestions?????
                          Lennon and/or SWP.

Failing that, Quaresma would be one i'd give serious consideration to.

Can never assume anything, i (and many others) thought Chelsea would be unstoppable with Sheva and Ballack...

                            How wrong can you get?

I do remember having a very length debate about whether Shevchenko would cut it here, it appears for now my initial thoughts were right.

We must not forget that the teams that have won the EPL have all had two top class wingers.

                                Beckham and Giggs
                                Ljungberg and Pires
                                Robben and Cole/Duff
                                Ronaldo and Giggs

So I would go for Kaka, Eto, Villa, Klose or any other world class striker if we have the money. But the most important thing IMO are the wingers.

I would love to see Rafa go after Lennon.

                                ps. how about Robinhio?
