In between winning La Liga twice, Rafa's Valencia finished 5th in the league. The same season they wiped the floor with us in the CL.

If you hadn't notice, Man U have been **** in the league as well the last 3 years. They finished 3rd, 3rd and 2nd, and each time been miles off wining the league. But they've spent £30m on Rooney, £20m on Carrick, are willing to spend another £20m on Hargreaves. And I could go on for ever about the amount they've spent in the last few years compared to us. In that time what have Chelsea spent? £30m on Shevchenko, £24m on SWP, another prbably £15m on Ballack's wages. How the hell do you expect Rafa to match them when he's feeding for scraps and signing people like Pennant when Chelsea go and buy SWP for £24m?

And as for Houllier's 4th place finish in 2004, which according to you obviously evidenced progress as we finsihed a place above our 2003 position, it's one of the worst Liverpool teams in recent memory that probably finsihed with one of the lowest ever points tallies for a 4th place team.
