The official "Say yes to Daniel Alves" thread

Has anybody been following him this season?

I have, and the guy is an absolutely awesome footballer.

He's skillful, quick, has a better engine than even Riise, he's tenacious and you know he will give everything to the cause.

Anyone watching the Barcelona game yesterday in particular would have seen that. He hounded their "star players" out of the game. That's not to say i'm judging him on one game alone, he's been doing it all season. We need his energy and versatility, and it's plain for all to see the reason Benitez has been after him for so long.

    He's world class.
    That's the one...

Yeah I agree. H has been a class act. In La Liga.
As I said in another post, he will not get nealy as much time on the ball in the EPL as he gets in La Liga, the game as we know is far more physical over here. defensively he can go missing aswell. Having said that, I doubt he would replace Finnan as a full back, most likely if we did sign him he would be playing as a right midfielder.
So my view on him would be, yes as a midfield player, no as a full back.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

    * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

i dont think we should get him, we can buy better players as a right midfielder.

I've tried to think who, but on his performances this season I don't know who. It's easy to roll the usual names off, but Alves has that something special. I also think he wouldn't find the pace and power of the English game a problem. He seems made for it.

He was ****ing awesome for Sevilla last night. I fear we've missed the boat, however.

Yes I agree although I wonder if the boat was ever actually there in the first place (in other words I'm not sure he would have come whatever the price).
            .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

He really was wasn't he? Great free kick and an assist.

It was a fabulous game as well. Barca blew it big time when 1-0 up against 10 men missing that penalty. Good news for us.

That probably will depend on them winning the league. Alves have said time after time that he want to leave and play for a bigger club.

Sevilla isn't able to challenge for the title every season.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Totally agree with that. As a right back he is out of postion far to many times. He would be a major weakness. As a right midfielder ................ Yeeeeeeeeeessssssssssssss pleaseeeeeeeeeeee

Apart from Cafu, I don't think I've ever seen a right back have such a bearing on games as Alves does. I've seen him play about a dozen or so times now, and almost every time he's Sevilla's best attacking player, without it being at the expense of his defensive duties. I've seen him nullify Ronaldinho (not last night), and I've seen numerous MOM performances. He's an amazing player - a right back who stands out every week...almost runs games from his right-back position. Respect.

Ive only seen him in fits and starts but from what ive seen he seems to be just the type of player we need.

Hopefully that won't be an issue.

I think it would be money well spent.
