Honest answer, I wouldn't say I've seen a lot of him but every time I have I've been suitably impressed.
I just prefer to throw a name into the mixer of a less fancied and more realistic player than the likes of alves, simao, eto'o, torres, villa.

Don't think we need another CB - what's the point?

We are pretty well covered in the LB - certainly well enough. LB's don't win you the league.

We basically need a genuine top draw striker, and one top draw winger. That is all.

I would be willing to sacrifice one of our existing strikers to bring in an Eto'o for example.
Agree - are you thinking arbeloa is a utilty defender that would play right back or centre half should agger or carragher be injured. hyypia still has it but not for long. I perhaps stupidly, but whatver, suggested that woodgate may turn into a great signing if he ever stayed fit, and it doesnt sem completely unrealistic like some ideas seom guys on here have.

Thing is fella how often do we play Barcelona?

Alves would have to adapt to the english game.

Yep, personel wise in defence we are pretty sound. We have players used to playing and winning in the English game and Europe. Absolutely nothing wrong with our first choice defence, and is comparable with the other big teams.

Reina, Carson, + Talented kids for Gks

Right Backs - Finnan, Arbeloa, Carragher at a push.

Left Backs - Riise, Aurelio, + kids, even Arbeloa.

Centre Backs - Carragher, Agger, Arbeloa, Hyypia, + Talented kids in Hobbs, Paletta, Antwi, Roque etc etc etc.

It doesn't really matter how often we play Barcelona, the point surely is that this guy has been utterly terrific in a "small" club this year, and last.

Comparing him to a kid from Derby is slightly ridiculous. (even if he does become a cracking player)

Here and now, there is totally no comparison.

he's nearly there already. Derby are looking good for automatic promotion. Not as`big as trasition IMO.

Why is it ridiculous? Just because he plays for Derby doesn't mean he can't be a good player does it?

I've not said he's not a good player (potentially a great player) BUT

comparing a kid playing in the second tier of English football, to a player playing for the league leaders of one of the best leagues in the world, and is acknowledged as being THEIR best player, and potentially the best player in the league (on form) is crazy.

Whatever makes you feel happy fella.

I reserve my right to compare the two players seeing as they have similar attributes. If you feel that's ridiculous then that's your issue fella, not mine
