Carra tells it how it is....

JAMIE CARRAGHER offered a blunt, two-word response to his interviewer.

And not for the first time on Saturday, he was absolutely spot on in his assessment of a situation.

The brutally honest Bootle boy was asked how the gap could be closed between his team and Manchester United.

    “Better players,” he shrugged.

hate to say it, but I do agree with him. I saw the Utd lineup and thought, "**** tha, looks go, well balanced, strong spine and danger throughout."

This is a superb article. Absolutely spot on. We just dont have the same class in the attacking department. Having said that i dont think you would call o'shea a world class creative talent....but you know what i mean.

It was a great point that we missed out signing ronaldo a few years back - i remember the gossip well, as i do when apparently damien duff was overpriced at 10 million (see diuff) we missed out on a class winger that stared in 2 prem title winning teams.

I also think that we have blown the chance to buy alves, in fact, im sure we have - hes played so well this year that every major club will show an interest - and i dont think you could blame him for going to chelsea or united, never mind barcelona.... And all for the sake of 1 or 2 million more at the end of last season. Also Eto - who why had chance to really get after before he went to barcelona. Im also absolutely convinced that he wont join us.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but there are some frustrating examples of missing a player a right moment in his career. You can blame money not being available - but there is also an argument that in the situation we were in we needed to purchase very few top class players - while cutting out buying numerous moderatally priced players - then utilising what we have in the youth and reserve team to back up the squad when required.

I dont think the journo was talking specifically about the game on saturday. We murdered them but got nothing. What he was saying was that unfortunately over a season, attacking players like rooney, giggs, scholes, ronaldo will create more match winning assists and goals than we will with kuyt, bellamy, pennant and crouch. That is sadly refelected very accurately in the league table.

I think you`ll find that Rooney and Saha have scored the same amount of goals as Bellers and Kuyt in the PL this yr.
Ronaldo has carried Manure this yr.

It may have been unlucky on this occasion but the squad is not yet good enough to win the league.

The defence and central mid are fine but the wings and strike force are not. Our strikers are all good players but none of them are great players.

Check out our form after our 1st 10 games. It`s as good as any in the PL.It was our start that ruined us.

I don't despute that but there is no way that our team is currently good enough. We have certain areas nailed down but we need more threat.

No striker is scoring bucket loads in the PL this yr.Too many teams set up their stall against the "Top Four" with defensive minded teams stifling any kind of attack.
