Owen is a better striker than Fowler. Now people don't like to hear that because Robbie is an all time crowd favourite whereas Owen even before he left was never held in the same affection. Fowler was a better finisher but not a better player. At his best Owen was in the top handful of strikers in the world, Robbie was never in that league. On top of all this was thier professionalism. Owen has always been the model pro, Robbie has been anything but.
look at their international records as well. Whilst Owen has been a first choice player since 1998 and could easily go on to break Bobby charlton's goalscoring record, robbie has only ever been a bit part player.
I'm not knocking robbie, he was a brilliant player but for me not as good as Owen.AKA Heighway No9

Disagree with most of that.
Fowler didn't have the opportunities Owen had at international level but he was much more of a complete player than Owen.
Owen was all pace and a cool finisher.
Fowler was more 2-footed, was better in the air, could take free kicks, could score from outside the box as well as inside and had the ability to do the absolute sublime!
If I had to put my mortgage on either of them at their peak to score in the last minute of a game, it would be on Robbie, I felt he was more reliable.
I'm not knocking Owen, but he was a one-trick pony (so to speak) and since he lost his pace through injury he has been a shadow of his former self.
I agree about the professionalism, but I think sometimes there are too many "professional" players. Robbie had so much charisma where as Owen was always very "robotic" in his interviews and behaviour on the pitch. He never seemed to interact with the crowd.
All in all, in terms of footballing ability, I couldn't disagree with you more, there was so much more to Robbie's game when both were at their peak. Both great players for LFC, both had their careers blighted by disasterous injuries.Originally posted by Gordon Brown

I'd have a fit owen back in a flash as he would score goals. but i wouldnt pay the 15 million that newcastle would probably demand unless theres a clause in his contract
i cant really see it happening but he has scored 7 goals in his 11 games he has played for newcastle showing he has not lost is touch or pace, its just his injuries that put me off.“At a football club, there’s a holy trinity - the players, the manager and the supporters. According to Times Owen has a £8m clause in his contract. They should know because Owen himself writes articles for them sometimes.Just believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Obvioulsy you have forgotten how many chances Owen used to waste, and that he usually scored goals with his instep after running through the defence.
Robbie: instep, proper shots, lobs, headers, left foot, right foot, from distance, inside the box.
And don't give me stats about Owen scoring more per game or something, then I will call Marcus50bucks now. This is about how they are as strikers and the skills they have, not mere numbers to prove it all.Originally posted by Red Chilli View PostDisagree with most of that.

Too expensive for half a dozen games a season though.Originally posted by AFII View PostAccording to Times Owen has a £8m clause in his contract. They should know because Owen himself writes articles for them sometimes.Originally posted by Gordon Brown

I don'ty think there is any chance at all that we will sign Torres. Why would we do that when Aguero would cost as much as him and he has been better than Torres this season.Originally posted by tomasjj View PostHope we sign Torres.
Rafa have said that he think Torres is overrated if I remember things right but he was very interested in Aguero.Just believe and you never know what will happen.
