It is strongly associated with irony, with some definitions classifying it as a type of verbal irony intended to insult or wound — stating the opposite of the intended meaning, e.g. using "that's fantastic" to mean "that's awful". It is used in a humorous manner, often harshly, and is expressed through vocal intonations such as over-emphasizing the actual statement or particular words. Use of sarcasm is sometimes viewed as an expression of concealed anger or annoyance. Sarcasm can also be used situationally for e.g. "the Welshman is so big" when referring negatively to the fact that the Welshman is actually small.

True, a tad harsh, but nonethless, he gave me a couple of head rushes last night (to the one on my shoulders). Really thought it was sub par.Originally posted by Red_Polo View PostSorry ronanm, but you referred to one of our players as an idiot and moaned about his attitude without good reason. What do you expect? A pat on the back for being such a great supporter?

I was sufficiently impressed with him last night. He is a confidence-type player and need the crowd behind him. He was absolutely terrible in the first half of the season, but progressed gradually and seem to have found his feet after his first liverpool goal against the Chavs.
I liked the fact that he cuts in and send a low one in like he did in the final minute for Peter Crouch, and he seem to do it more and more frequent. Long may it continue. I also appreciate his pint-point crosses (more accurate as the season progress). Those were quality whip-ins without the need to take an extra footing, and 85% of the time, he'll find his teammate. I actually felt he is second only to Beckham in that aspect. He definitely has the potential to improve (alot) more e.g. beating/skinning his man at the flanks, but don't write him off just yet.
I also like the fact that he is getting more mature as a footballer i.e. the dying moments of stoppage time, he kept the ball well at the outside right, a couple of step-overs to put off the barcelona's defence, with no intention of giving away the ball. I can remember countless of time when the likes of Cisse or Anthony Le T or Milan Baros would try go for glory with a wild shot when the priority is to keep the ball and frustrate your opponent.
Well done J. Keep your head down and work harder! You're still only 24. You'll get there.
