So do Robben and van Persie

All three have a somewhat ****zy arm action when they run.

Yeah we should go out and buy a striker, not someone who is not going to get us more goals.

Liverpool, Chelsea battle for Sevilla's Daniel Alves
          tribalfooball.com - March 12, 2007

Liverpool and Chelsea are battling for Sevilla fullback Daniel Alves.

The Brazilian is being made available in the summer by Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido after agreeing to play out this season with the Primera Liga club.

The Daily Mail says both Chelsea and Liverpool are determined to bring Alves to England over the close-season.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

            [QUOTE=Harveybirdman;334843]exactly Matt.

We create a hell of alot of chances, Lennon wont make these chances any easier for our strikers to finish. He is a very talented player, he can dribble the ball at tremendous pace....but his delivery into the box lacks that class that Ronaldo and Rooney have.

We need better delivery from our wide players....Quaresma, Alves, Ribery would be at the top of my list.

            QUOTE]

I remember people saying Ronaldos end product wasnt good enough, but this is something that can be worked on. Lennon is already much improved and will get better. He has something that Ronaldo has in fantastic dribbling ability and a good footballing brain. Sure to be a big star, to sign him now would be costly, but he'll only get more expensive.

There is a lack of world class wingers available so this means they cost more than they should, but it is a player Liverpool have lacked for a while now. I remember thinking Kewell was the answer, so there are no guarantees, but we should get the players we need to improve the first team to chllenge for the title. A winger is a top priority/

aye, walk the ball down, let the defenders get settled and pick up the strikers, then pump the ball in the box. thats our style and has been for a couple seasons. not enough cutting edge or dynamicism. our players seem reluctant to take people on. we need a player that will do that. alves for me. lennon will be a great player, but he would be too expensive and spurs wont sell him to us imo

Agent lays out conditions for Alves' Sevilla sale
                tribalfooball.com - March 14, 2007

Sevilla fullback Daniel Alves is closer to a move away.

The Brazilian is wanted by Barcelona and Domingo Fernandez, who is part of Alves' representative team, said that Sevilla will be unable to reject a bid of £12 million or more for the wing-back.

"There are precedents like Reyes, Baptista and Ramos, where Sevilla obtained very high amounts," he said. "Dani is now playing at a level which is going to attract the biggest clubs, but he doesn't want a problematic exit from Sevilla and president (Jose) Del Nido has been open about allowing the player to leave should the right offer arrive.

"I believe for the way he is playing today, he could fit into any team."

What about if they come runners up? You think he'll stay?

I see your reasoning as he was persuaded to stay so they could have a crack at winning the title this year and they knew that his value wouldnt go down so could afford to do so.

I think he'll leave either way and can see no reason to suggest he wont join us. All this Chelsea talk is crap, they didnt back Jose in January and will probably bring a new coach in, who may well have different ideas.

Unless Arnesen and Roman are wheeling and dealing, in which case we could have a bidding war going on. I think we'll get him.

I thought this thread was about Lennon?

Can't the mods just merge all the Owen hijacked threads into one, and then just delete the *******?

i can see him hanging about another year for a league and CL run if they dont win it this season. but sevilla do like to cash in on their stars at the height of their value and he's been thinking of leaving for 2 seasons. it does seem he will leave in the summer

i would think we are in the best position to sign him as we have tried in the past so theres already a relationship between alves and the club. and we were interested in him before any of the other big clubs outside spain were, if that means anything

It says something about Owen's superior movement, but on the flipside Houllier geared our whole game plan to getting Owen clean through on goal.

People talk about Bellamy's movement but I'm not impressed. He does a lot of running around in circles. He's okay down the channels, but his movement isn't intelligent enough in areas where it hurts - i.e through the middle. He has searing pace but he doesn't use it intelligently enough.
In fairness to Bellers, I think ITs Rafa that tells him where to make his runs, which is usually in an advanced wide right position.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

We need quality width as well as quality up front. away from home against the big teams we have created little this season. Against Man U, Arsenal & Chelsea we didn't manage a goal away from home this seaon. Against Man u & Arsenal we never looked like scoring. Its more than poor finishing we need to sort it, its our creativity as well. Lets be honest we have only 1 genuinely creative player and thats SG. Thats not enough.
I agree. I think while we create chances they tend to be from straight forward balls into the box. In reality, our only player (with maybe garcia also) who you can rely on to offer guile and creativity on the wings or in the box is gerrard.

We do need, as was said, proper creativity in all front areas of the pitch, like utd have with giggs ronaldo, scholes, rooney.

We just don't have that quota of creative players to call on, who even when playing poorly, one of them will be on song enough to win a game for us.
