    Accrington net Liverpool teenager

Accrington Stanley have signed teenage Liverpool defender Godwin Antwi on loan to help in their struggle against relegation back to the Conference.

The 18-year-old central defender has joined Stanley in a month-long deal.

Antwi is yet to make a senior appearance for Liverpool since signing from Real Zaragoza but has been a regular at reserve team level.

Stanley boss John Coleman is looking to further strengthen his squad ahead of Saturday's home game against Torquay.

The lad's going to be playing non-league football? Not sure what he'll get out of that

regular games hopefully against physically stronger men at a higher level than the reserve league.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

              * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

Also, The reserve league doesn't have as many fixtures. So instead of playing 2 games in the month with the stiffs he could get 6 competative games with Accrington.

The accountancy side of our business does Accy's audit. They're a smashing little club managed by a true Red, John Coleman, who I was drinking with after the FA Cup Final last year down in Cardiff.

The Chairman, Eric Whalley, is a lovely bloke but not the brightest button in the box. He was interviewed on Sky earlier because Stanley are allowing fans in for free against Torquay at the weekend. When asked what effect the extra fans would have on the team and the atmosphere, Eric replied "they'll be like our fourth man"!!!

That probably explains why they've been charged by the Football League for fielding ineligible players.

Good news for us and good news for Accrington if he does well. I think we need to get more of our lads out on loan, especially the foreign lads once theyre settled. Let them know what English footy is all about.

No point keeping them wallowing in the rezzies as they get nowhere. My only point is that they stay in English footy and not loaned out abroad, as this teaches and prepares them for nothing.
                            Forwards.......

One of our Directors is the club accountant and he warned them about signing too many loan players in January but they'd already signed them!
