In 50 years time we might be looking at extending the stadium to 120.000+ and Stanley Park maybe would not allow that.

Then again they could release an LFC TV season ticket on sky allowing all games to be watched live, which could mean a decrease in demand for tickets.........Originally posted by einar View PostIn 50 years time we might be looking at extending the stadium to 120.000+ and Stanley Park maybe would not allow that.Forwards.......

I am an OOTer and I've only been coming to Anfield for the past seven or eight years. Living in Preston-Chorley area, it'd be ideal to have it somewhere round the Switch Island area. I'm also usually fairly open-minded about change and such things.
Except this. Liverpool FC is part of Anfield and Anfield is part of Liverpool FC. The two are inseparable and I don't think they ever should be. On this point, tradition must win out. I want them to do whatever it takes for Liverpool Football Club to build their new stadium in Anfield on the end of Stanley Park. There can be no substitute.
As for selling the naming rights, Mr Parry has already stated that he wants the word "Anfield" incorporated into whatever the new name is. Any such sponsors, should be proud and honoured to for us to allow them to link their brand to the Anfield name in this way.
Hopefully, on all these points, Mr Gillett and Hicks will think the same way.No! I am NOT in denial!

I´d still much rather have a season ticket.

Originally posted by NICKZS View PostAnd in fairness it never has been, by all accounts (I only stood on it twice when I was a kid). The introduction of an all-seated Kop was absolutely necessary and if, as I say, moving elsewhere in the city was seen as necessity then I suppose there wouldn't be much else to say on the subject. But whilst we have the oppurtunity to stay in the area and, as I believe we do, have the potential to challenge for the league (we can already challenge for every other major honour) with a stadium below 70,000, I would not consider moving to Speke, Anfield etc.
I am fully prepared to change with the times to allow the club to put itself back where it belongs, but not if we are going to be relinquishing almost all of the heritage we have done so well to hold onto. I know that this is only my personal opinion which is why I am not trying to represent the fanbase as a whole, but the reds I do know and travel to the match with would agree with me on this.
I think that is going to get less and less likely going forward if we don't have sufficient infrastructure in place. Chelsea's (Abramovich's millions), Arsenal's new ground (taking more in corporate money on a match day than the whole of Highbury did so I believe) and Manure filling the gaps in there stadium.......are all going to take their toll on our ability to compete going forward, not just now, but over the next 10-20yrs.
The point above about less demand for tickets if all the matches were shown live is a good point to illustrate that the future isn't certain. Personally I don't believe it would happen or certainly if it did, that it would mean a reduction in demand for tickets. However we need to ensure that we're right up there with the clubs in the mix for the league and a 61,000 seater stadium might put us in the mix for the next few years, but doubt it's got the legs to take us much further. Of course the future is uncertain, but a conservative approach thus far has seen us fall behind, maybe it's time to gamble?

Our new owners claim to want us to be the best in the world and to have the best stadium in the world. Not just to be in the mix. We cant just think about the next 20 years but rather the next 120 years.Originally posted by nobbylad View PostI think that is going to get less and less likely going forward if we don't have sufficient infrastructure in place. Is no one else feeling that Parry and Hicks&Gillet have completely conflicting ideas on this new delay? Parry seems quite happy to settle whilst the Yanks don't? I'm probably reading too much into it (wouldn't be the first time) but I get the impression there's a little conflict between the two parties. Probably just me...

Well to be fair Parry was the one who oversaw the design that may now be being chucked out, so you can see why he maybe a bit "dissapointed".Originally posted by Charlie_B View PostIs no one else feeling that Parry and Hicks&Gillet have completely conflicting ideas on this new delay?
