i always thought that they were connected. i don't know why...i just thought that they were.
They are connected. The first time I ever went in Lasty's car there was a copy on the back seat. I threw it out the window and he just gawped at me as I ranted at him. Even worse a bluehite family we know, the auld fella won't go near either rag. Got a lift home with the son, and that feckin daily rag was in it. I was so incensed I told his auld fella who went ****in berserk. It's not just a red thing.
I don't personally, like any of our players talking to any newspaper. They are footballers not BB contestants!
The difference here is that News Corp owns 100% of the S*n and NotW. This means that NotW should be treated no differently than the S*n.
While they have a sizable stake in Sky (38%), they do not own it and do not have total control over it's output.
So what about the Sunday Times, would that be Ok?
I don't think Steve would have had much say in which paper would have exclusivity, the publishers more than likely decided. The Sun would have been excluded by them, but that would have been a marketing decision from the start.
Well i guess that means then that all the propertys that Robbie/Macca owns along with the race horses are a mirage then. Seen as how footballers are "Just Footballers" with nothing in between there ears. Give them some credit wil ya fella.
And as for footie players writing their biographys, i have NO problem what so ever with them doing that. Would you not read a biography on Pacino or De Nero because they are "still acting"? or how about one on McCartney. Would you say, 'Well **** that. Robbing ******* is still writing music and now he wants ME to read his book.' Nah, you'd go out and read it.
And in all fairness here, wether we like it or not, Britney Spears has had quite a few hits and releasing a best of isnt that bad of an idea if you were her record company at the moment.
Im not having a dig at you mate and i can hear some of what your saying but to dismiss footballers as thick as two planks of wood is a little ignorant imo. I know you never said this as such but you insinuated it.
is stevie talking to notm, isn't it just exerps from his book, meaning that his pubicist or somone in the pr devision of the book made the desicion to go to notw, and maby stevie had no say in the matter, just speculating here, but he has people working for him that make these decisions
"I have decided to escape, to defy the shogun. Today I will begin walking the road to hell. But you will choose your own path. So, soon you may be seeing heaven. Choose the sword, and you will join me. Choose the ball and you join your mother, in death. You don’t understand my words, but you must choose. So… come boy, choose life or death."
"You would've been happier if you'd chosen to join your mother in her world. " - Ogami Itto
Actually just chedked on wikipedia - I was wrong, it's the sunday version of the s*n:
quote:
The News of the World is a British tabloid newspaper published every Sunday. It is published by News Group Newspapers of News International, itself a subsidiary of Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation and can be considered to be the Sunday version of The Sun.
this point alone IMHO is reason enough to cut gerrard some slack. Maybe he genuinely didnt realise what he was getting himself in to. Personally I dont think Gerrard would have accepted to this this if he knew the background. Im sure The News of the world would have come out and said hi, we are the Sunday version of the Sun.
As Al said in an earlier post, footballers can be dummies at the best of times.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.
* After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

Mate with all due respect Gerrard won't deal directly with this - his agent will.
Owen and Rooney and gave exclusives to the NOTW before. There is a boycott with the s*n and not the NOTW. End of ****ing story!
