    I remember it mate

Wasn't that doing the rounds before Gary Mac came (the last red who could actually take a decent corner)?

That wasn't from a set piece though.

It was from a Finnan cross which was worked from a Gerrard corner, not direct from a corner.

Is that not a set piece then? I think it's splidding hairs.

The one which annoys me is the standard floater which Gerrard tries from the corner. Why I do not know. The only way that works if you have some fantastic headers in your team - when we really only have one in the squad. Hyypia. Who doesn't even play often anymore!

Sad state of affairs this is. We offer no real threat from corners. We had some 10 or 11 corners vs the Mancs and we failed to capitalise on the situation and got suckered punch from a set-piece at the very end. SG is a box-to-box player and should be in the fecking box waiting for a delivery instead of taking the bloody corners.

If he was an awesome set piece taker I'd see the logic, but he's so not!
I hope to god Aurelio is planning to put in some hard work on the training ground over the next few months otherwise I'll personally book him on the first boat back to Brazil. Didn't Rafa say he was a brilliant crosser when he first signed?

Alun you're right, for corners Gerrard should always be lurking on the edge of the box. IMO Finnan is the best crosser at the club, don't know why he never takes a corner.

yeah ive been harping on about this for a while.

Firstly we get more corners than anyone else.....plus we have some big guys, Crouch, Momo, Gerrard, Kuyt, Agger (scored alot for Brondby). We should be bloody lethal from set pieces!!

WTF is wrong! Do we not practice?

Hopefully we go for Gamst Pedersen, he is really quite a good player, plus there is no one in the league with a better delivery than him.

                      He could change us.

I dont understand why Alonso/Aurelio dont take set pieces and Gerrard is either in the box or just outside waiting for the scraps.
He'd be far more useful to us getting in there rather than standing over every set-piece we have.

Unlikely though it may seem, we've actually scored from a few corners this season. Off the top of my head I can think of:

                          Crouch away v Bordeaux
                          Bellamy home v Blackburn
                          Carra home v Fulham
                          Agger away v Brum
Paletta home v Reading (well it was a header from a cross - can't remember if it was a corner, for sure though)
Kuyt home v Arsenal (FA Cup)
                          Hyypia home v Sheff Utd.

Which is a bit of a surprise, as we generally look about as threatening as Audley Harrison after a long nap.

THe most annoying thing for me is that Gerrard would be one of our most dangerous players in the box, he should be at the end of them not taking them ffs.

Gerrard shoudn't even be taking the corners, he would be alot more effective in the box...or hovering around just outside the box.

Are we talking on or off the pitch here?

My asessment of Liverpool's games is limited to what I can watch on Sopcast, but I don't recall the last time I saw a corner pinged at the front post with a player 'blocking' the keeper. Simple stuff that other teams do week in week out.
