    Stevie Gerrard

Yet anther dismal display from 'Captain Fantastic' today, surprised?
Well not really as he's been piss poor in the vast majority of away games this season.
Scapegoat? Nah, Kuyt, Masherano, Aurelio etc were all poor to say the least but really you would expect more from the skipper, wouldn't you?

Right wing, centre mid, off the front man, didn't make a blind bit of difference.

Non-excistent once again and it's just not on in my opinion.

          Maybe Dunphy was right

Nahhhh, would much rather have him in the team, than out of it.
Well, here we are in a room with two manky hookers and a racist dwarf. I think I'm heading home.

Repetitive is one word. Just drag one of your many old threads on the same subject out next time.

He had a poor game and this has probably been his most disappointing season for us. It's just not happened for him.

I do believe he doesn't react well to poor team performances or if he's not playing well himself. Some people are galvanised by such circumstances - Gerrard seems to sulk.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

                1) "It's just not on" is a strange comment Marky. It's as though you're accusing Gerrard as doing it on purpose.
                2) I didn't watch the game but apparently it was a poor team performance and no-one came out of it with any credit, so to single out one player is a touch harsh.
                3) It's a bit sarcastic to say a dismal display from our "Captain Fantastic". It's not really necessary and sounds as though you have an agenda to pursue.

I think overall, we all know Gerrard is a great player as are a few of our players. If the manager doesn't get the best out of him and others then some blame has to lay with the manager for that.

Surprised you didn't mention Momo too.
                  He was abysmal.
As has been said on here, he should play mostly against teams who have most of the possession, not when we have it most.

Kuyt was poor too. And could do with some time on the bench.

                  Rafa's tactics were too negative.

Alonso makes us tick. Our play improved a lot when he came on.

Gerrard on the right gives us no width since he lacks the discipline to stay on the right, or is given license to roam from Rafa...no matter what, we end up playing too narrow then.

Mascher made quite a few easy mistakes in the 1st half, but got better in the second. He will come good with more matching I think.

Pennant was a breath of fresh air when on.

Defense was sound. Not much contribution forward from the fullbacks though.

Bellers did well in the first, then disappeared.

I don't think Aurelio was that poor. He never wastes the ball, but lacks pace to challenge.

He got the best out of him last season. Just been a poor season all round, domestically, and I suppose the buck must stop with Benitez.

I think that is worse when he's on the right. He's called it a graveyard position himself. I think he believes in that position he is unable to influence the team and the team's tempo from there.
I think he has a point. We were abysmal against Olympiakos and he reacted well to that, we were abysmal in the first half of the Champions league final and he reacted well to that.
I do believe, no matter what the stats say, he is being played out of position and when he sees others not performing in his position, he gets dejected.

I don't think that has anything to do with it. Today, as Marky rightly said, he was moved to the centre, to off the front man, but it had no effect, and it's been the same for most of the season. He was poor wherever he played today, and he sulked throughout. Last season he was excellent wherever he played - right, middle, off the front - but it's been almost the complete opposite this season.

I know Marky posts with the impetuosity of youth - with him still ****ting yellow and all that ! ( ) - but the lad has got a ****ing point.

Gerrard was woeful today. In fact - he was worse than that because in my eyes he didn't even try. At one point in the second half he lost the ball near the edge of their box and didn't bother to track back......
I said it on the other thread - but his body language was all wrong today. He was troubled or unintersted - or both.......

If Stevie's performances dont buck up next season then that £25m-£35m would look seriously tempting - and possibly too good to turn down. And don't give me all this "he won us the Champions League blah blah blah!" because as paisley was fond of saying - you get NOTHING for what you did last year.
                          Liverpool born and bred.

Gerrard seems to think of himself as the ball central, the playmaker. Unfortunately, that is not the case, he is not the man to do that imo.
