it doesn't surprise me at all. Why? Well this fella has been playing almost non stop since August 2003, it had to come.

Exactly, he just doesn't have that spark/drive/awe about him this season atall, it's a conceren, it really is.
Stevie only 26 and all, should be at the peak of his powers.
Lets hope it's just one bad season and next season we'll see the Steven Gerrard of old.
Vieira, when at his peak, had one very poor season for Arsenal. Top players are entitled to have a dip in form. We've seen enough of Gerrard to know he's top class and this is just a bad season - end of story. He's good enough to come back all the stronger for it. Form is temporary, and all that...

Can't accuse you of NOT backing up your points, that's for sure.

He's just not playing well, regardless of where he plays. That's the bottom line.
right it is possible. but alves is a natural wide player, the lad was built to play on the wing.

ste is not playing well, but could that be the result of constantly changing positions?

no worse than that. He at least had a break between May 200 and August 2005. We had a ridiculous qualifying campaign!!

Dismal by the captain but the two in the middle ruled hard I guess? One was rusty and the other couldn't pass wind.

I do believe he doesn't react well to poor team performances or if he's not playing well himself. Some people are galvanised by such circumstances - Gerrard seems to sulk.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

                    * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

I think people should get off Marky's case.

Yes, he worded his post badly and the disparaging, sarcastic language used suggests he may have some kind of agenda - but he's not wrong. Gerrard was poor again. That's why there's another thread. *shrugs*

Gerrard has been **** this season.

What ever happened to that brilliant, rampaging, angry young souser who dominated games from start to finish.

Where are the flying tackles ? The lung bursting runs ?

I still think the best Gerrard has ever played for us was the second half of Houllier's last season when he dragged us kicking and screaming into a Champions League position.

Not if he continues his personal agendas, he deserves in return exactly what he gives out, if posters can't take it, then don't dish it.

And there was more than 1 player poor again today, so the after match washup threads should be mandatory and it would enable posters to vent all their frustrations out in one place under one umbrella, rather than disecting one player all the time.

Fair comment. If we had a thread for every **** performance today there'd be 10 of the ****ers.
