Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

My issue with yesterday's line-up was to play Mascherano AND Sissoko on the same pitch. I wrote a while back that for me, the two should be swapped in and out with one another and not with Alonso; We shouldn't be playing both men at the same time.

I feel that regardless of where Gerrard played, having Mascherano and Sissoko on the pitch was the wrong tactic; For all of their disruptive abilities, neither man has proven effective in positive, posession oriented play. One or the other is fine, in company with Alonso and Gerrard (roaming and on the right), but both together we lose an essential creative component from the center of the pitch.

My two cents anyway; I don't think it matters where Gerrard plays, as long as he has decent link ups form other midfielders, strikers tracking back (Kuyt in particular is strong at this), etc. That was not the case yesterday and you notcied that when Pennant and Alonso came on, how much more dangerous we looked in attack because we had quality linking up between the midfield, the wings, and the strikers. Rafa should know better, in my opinion.

im stopping short of wishing another injury on him, but if thats the only chance of getinng gerrard back in the centre again and us playing good football again then so be it

this is the downfall of rafa, his stubborn side, looks like its going to piss our champions league chances up the wall if he continues, madness

              From YNWA:

In the league this season Momo has played 12 matches, this has given us 4 wins, 2 draws and 6 losses.

The matches he has helped us win are Newcastle at home, Spurs at home, Aston Villa at home and Reading at home, I have a feeling we could have been able to win these matches at home without him.

We have drawn against Sheffield Utd away and Aston Villa away, did we manage to get these two points because we used Momo or did we just get one point because we used him and his inabilities going forward actually stopped us from creating good enough chances to win?

We have lost against Everton away, Chelsea away, Bolton away, the mancs away, Newcastle away and the mancs at home, did Momo help us win these matches or could he actually have prevented us from getting points because of his inabilities going forward?

We cant place the blame on one player like this but every player is part of a process and they need to contribute their share.

With these results in mind there is no way it could have been worse if we dropped Momo completely, but there is a good chance it could have been better, our good run when he was out injured also backs this up.

He moved to the centre after Pennant came on, and did what? Same. Nothing.

You're clutching at straws if you think that simply leaving out Momo, and moving Gerrard to "his favoured position" (copyright Sly Sports/Andy Gray) will cure any ills we may, or may not have on the basis of a DRAW.

Momo was our best player against Barca. ****e? Yeah, ****e enough to be battling for 1st position in La Liga.

I like Momo and think he offers the team a great deal but, and I know i'm not stating anything new here, his distrubution was god awful again yesterday. The boy need to learn to pass the ball and he will be untouchable.

Oh and he could do with some shooting lessons.

Stevie is nowhere near as good as Momo in the tackle or at breaking up play. Check the stats he's not even on the same planet.

Good to see another member of the family has joined the argument.
