Difficult to say as it would take longer to build an 80,000 than a 60,000. Plus theres the transport infrastructure that has to be in place.Originally posted by anfieldanfield View PostSo, for the sake of argument let's say we started building a new 80,000 seater stadium this summer, with the full permission of the council.
How many years would that take to build ?
3 or 4 ?Forwards.......

these americans can clearly pay hardball. The council want money to improve their transport network and see the prospect of a new 80,000 stadium as a means of getting money out of us. Traditional reserved English bloke Parry says ok we can't afford that we'll reduce it to 60,000. Hardball Hicks & Gillete say we want 80,000 and we'll move elsewhere if need be. The council now need to consider whether its worth risking losing the football club.
Yes we should stay in the area, yes we need more than 60,000 and yes we should support our fans to be able to get there and out easier. But a cashcow for a local authority we are not. My 2p

Just my opinion, but the Liverpol council should do more to accomodate LFC, they owe the club big time already as it is.Originally posted by rage View Postthese americans can clearly pay hardball. Lok what LFC has done for the city of Liverpool over the past few decades, the club has brought in countless millions from tourism and argueably without LFC Liverpool would not be the capital of culture for 2008.
IMO the city of Liverpool should be bending over backwards to help the city of Liverpool and Liverpool Football club have a world class stadium that rubs shoulders with the very best stadiums in the world that will being in even more revenue in tourism and help the club gain extra success that will in itself help the city.
How this point is not brought up and argued is beyond me.
Look at how other cities treat theit big footbal teams and their stadiums. Madrid & Barcelona being fine examples.Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:

It doesn't join but I think there were 2 ideas -Originally posted by The Glove View PostThis rain line, does anyone know where it joins the Northern line at all because from memory, it doesnt and they dont even run on a similar level. The one nearest Anfield is a freight line that trundles to garston and the Docks. The nearest it gets to a passanger train line is Kirkdale, were it runs underneath the station.
1. To join it up
2. To create a huge parking area somwhere along the existing line and use the train to get them all to the match"Man will never be free until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest."

seen the Dalas pans, impressive arent they.
Id be happy if they coul just get the capacity up and keep the Anfield Atmosphere and make it real intimidating for opposition fans. A roof would b pretty cool, but as nobby lad would say, **** the roof

I admit I was against them. But that was down to Parry saying how perfect DIC was. I myself will reserve judgement until the start of next season. By then the stadia will be underway and we will see how much theyre backing the manager of LFC.Originally posted by Red Chilli View Post

I can see them making a good bit more changes to the plans than filling in the corners personally, These lads won cut any corners in making the new stadium is good as it can be, and as far as I can see, that means totally revamping the current design, especially if we are allowed to go up to 80,000 seats.Originally posted by anfieldanfield View PostSurely if we do press ahead with the new stadium, the old design will be ditched ?
Or will they just 'fill in' the corners of the current design ?Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
