    The youngsters???

obviously it is dependant on who we buy in the summer, but the last couple of seasons have been notable that not 1 youth player has made it to the first team for the premiership.

Do you think any of our current crop will start to see some first team action next season?

I really think hammill looks like he could start to make the squad, what about lindfield. to early?

I share your concern - I thought guys like Anderson and Hammill would really be knocking on the door this season.

definitley is a worry that not more are pushing for a first team place. hammil looks like he could do it not so sure on anderson!

Just my opinion, but if your good enough, you old enough, Linfield seems to be a better finisher than any of our current older more experienced strikers. Id give him a chance next season. Id still bring in a top class tallent though as we need to be serious title contenders.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Well he had a good season last season too, setting alight the FA youth cup with numerous goals, and scored a decent goal in a pres season friendly for the first team.
I think we could do worse than select say one academy graduate against the lower league sides for when we are coasting games for a bit of experience.

tonights reserve team is quite experienced, must because to retain match sharpness for those not lucky enough to be picked for their internationals.
The Liverpool team in full is:

              1. Jerzy Dudek
              2. Alvaro Arbeloa
              3. Emiliano Insua
              4. Jack Hobbs (capt)
              5. Gabriel Paletta
              6. Javier Mascherano
              7. Jermaine Pennant
              8. Boudewijn Zenden
              9. Robbie Fowler
              10. Craig Lindfield
              11. Fabio Aurelio

              Substitutes:

              12. Stephen Darby
              13. Daniele Padelli
              14. Robbie Threlfall
              15. Paul Anderson
              16. Ronald Huth

I agree, unfortunately we need to start coasting some games first

Thats why scum have dome well with ronaldo, its easy first season in for someone to come in at 3-0 and say go enjoy yourself. Used to feel sorry for tony le T when he came on when we were drawing and told to go win them game!

yeah, its a difficult situation alright, considering the pressure you are under when playing for the reds. good to see rafa has such a strong interest in the youth setup though.

Thats only because it's international week. Rafa wants to keep the players not on international duty match fit.

This is still due to the Houllier era. All Rafa's young signing aren't ready for the first team yet.

do you blame houiller or heighway??

surely not all managers get involved with youth academies? is it heighways job just to manage the ones brought to him or is he responsible for bringing them in to?

IMO. Every manager should get involved with the academies and youth set up. They should be keeping an eye on their production line for future stock.
