There are greater things to get wound up on than "did he go down easy or dive", Robben is a true diving artist when you think about it.

I'm referring to ONE incident with Ronaldo, and ONE with Gerrard.

Just because Ronaldo has dived before, doesnt make every incident involving him a 'dive'.

And just because Gerrard isnt known for diving (but the way things are going, that'll come soon enough) doesnt mean every incident involving him was a legit foul on him.

Fair enough, each to their own. I see where you're coming from. I see it as Gerrard "choosing" to go down. Whatever contact there may have been (minimal at best), I didn't see it as being anywhere near enough to bring him down naturally.

When I played football regularly you were either knocked down or you weren't. Contact in the box didn't automatically equal a penalty. I don't see where this ludicrous, and suddenly very popular notion has come from. It's a contact sport. A tap on the leg doesn't justify going down and nor does it justify the award of a penalty.

Anyway, I can't talk. I dived in the Sunday leagues. Not perpetually, but I took a few dives in the last minute of games that we were either losing by one goal or drawing. I probably did that five or six times - genuine dives - and each time I won the spot kick. I remember one time actually catching my skipper smirking at me - knowing what I'd done - and I smirked back. The centre half who "fouled me" saw us and he went ****ing ballistic.

Ronaldo is slagged off because people don't like him. Your last comment says the same.

Of course people don't like him for loads of reasons. That however isn't the point.

He is a diver and he certainly goes looking for penalties. So do Garcia, Gerrard and loads of other players. And Shaggy.

I am a man of integrity but in sport it is win at all costs. But yes, I, Shaggy, am a diver.

Sunday League diving is really funny though. I never did it at all in my junior days - I played from under 10s right through to under 16s and then into the men's league. It was then when I started diving.

Shamefully, the buzz I used to get out of a winning a last-gasp penalty thanks to a total dive was almost as good as the buzz I got from scoring a goal.
