There's no way back to the old-style terraces IMO. However I do think there are probably options for organised standing areas that would be safer than people standing in an area designed for seating as currently happens.

What are your thoughts on a terraced Kop in the new ground?

Yes it happens but it's not supposed to happen.Originally posted by Red_Polo View PostThere's no way back to the old-style terraces IMO. These standing areas won't be safe if people start piggy backing will they? It's the same argument, if people sit in seats then they will always be safer than people in terraced areas.
If people stand in seating areas or piggy back in standing areas then of course it's not going to be safe.Originally posted by Gordon Brown

There is a MASSIVE difference between old school 'terracing' and safe-standing now in place in Germany.
Secondly, all those against standing could move to the other three sides of the stadium. Nobody is forcing you to stand.
Thirdly, look at this picture and tell me how on earth this is any more dangerous than standing in a seated area...which is what the Kop does anyway.

I hope and I half-expect standing to be reintroduced within the next 15 years or so. The amount of people standing in seated areas all across the country is escalating....

Mate, standing in a seating area is not allowed, but it is tolerated as it's impossible to police.Originally posted by anfieldanfield View PostThere is a MASSIVE difference between old school 'terracing' and safe-standing now in place in Germany.

As far as the clubs are concerned, they have a strict no standing policy.
This is a matter of safety, therefore the club is covering itself in terms of providing a safe venue.
If people get injured because they are standing up then that's their fault and not the clubs.
Terracing will never be as safe as an all seater, that's a fact. You go to a chief executive and try and persuade them to spend hundreds of thousands of pounds making their stadium less safe.
Seating is here, once you introduce it ,it stays.Originally posted by Gordon Brown

Difficult to say as some people are still harbouring for the atmosphere of the past.Originally posted by Mumsafan View PostI bet most of the people advocating the reintroduction of standing probably haven't actually done it, as it was, pre Hillsbrough etc.
What those people forget is the atmosphere at the CL semi 2005. Proof if ever it was needed that in the right circumstances, an all seater Anfield can provide a fantastic atmosphere.
I think if we had a more successful team playing magical football, with 3pm or evening kick offs only, there would be no issue with the atmosphere at AnfieldOriginally posted by Gordon Brown

That's the entire point though, surely ?Originally posted by Mumsafan View PostI bet most of the people advocating the reintroduction of standing probably haven't actually done it, as it was, pre Hillsbrough etc.
Look at the picture I posted, is that ANYTHING like the old style terraces pre-Hillsbrough ?
I've stood at away games, I've stood on the Kop in recent years - It doesn't feel remotely dangerous.

The entire Kop and the majority of the Anny road end stood that night.Originally posted by Red Chilli View PostDifficult to say as some people are still harbouring for the atmosphere of the past.

Anyone that thinks we can go back to standing as it used to be is a moron. It is perfectly feasible there might be much safer ways of having organised standing areas, where each person has their own separate space. But there's never going to be a return to the old style terraces, that would be ****ing stupid.Like blood on iron

Monaco, Leverkusen - all have this sort of thing. But people are supplied with a seat effort and enough space to move and breathe properly.Originally posted by Red_Polo View PostAnyone that thinks we can go back to standing as it used to be is a moron. Was it not an all seater stadium?
I think it was wasn't it. Or is that bollocks too?
What's the motivation behind having a terraced area AA? (Serious question)Originally posted by Gordon Brown
