All I said was surely theres someone of a similar level thats younger. If there is, wouldnt you rather have the younger player, even if he was to cost £3m more?

I actually think we could get one for less than it would cost to get Simao, who was vastly over priced by Benfica.
Did I say he was? Did I insinuate that? I'm sorry if you got that impression.

Perhaps there is someone who is younger, but no two players are the same and perhaps Rafa wants Simao specifically for his specialities - whatever they may be.

Your final point is pure speculation.

This season he has played in 27 games and that means that he probably will have missed 25-30 games.

So 45-60 games missed the last three seasons.

His goals/game this season has been below 0.5 goals/game for the first time since 2000-2001 season.
Do one for Steven Gerrard. I think it might look similar.

Has stevie been injured so far this season?

I would say in stevies case that he is rotated/rested more often then Henry over the past 3 season so thats why he would have missed 5 or so games a season.

          Gerrard's last three seasons....

          2004-05.....43 games
          2005-06.....53 games
2006-07.....30 games so far. The stats from this season is last updated 2nd January.

That means that he probably missed 15-20 games 04-05, 3-7 games 05-06 and more or less no games at all this season.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

My point being that Henry isn't injury prone, he's just been injured this season.

Signing a World class player of 30 for a reasonable price is different to signing Simao who will command a fee of at least £10m, so you may have not have meant the imression you gave, but you did.

Age is not the biggest concern, value for money is. McCallister was old but came on a free, meaning value for money.
Henry at 30 years old and £15m would be great value as he is world class.
Simao at £10m and 28 years old would not be great value IMO.

At the end of the day, its down to Rafa, but I dont see Simao arriving in the summer for a fee of over £8m and if Benfica want more we wont get him. Rafa has moved on. And yeah, thats speculation, but so are all of these posts about who is leaving and who is arriving. And I see you like to speculate just as much as the rest of us.
              Forwards.......

What on earth are you on about?

Players don't play every game of the season anymore and Arsenal regularly rest him to play their kids. 42 games followed by 44 games is hardly any great miss from each season. Before this season (which I would say was the only real season he has been out for a sustained period) he scored 30+ goals every season and was more often than not closer to 35/40.

Thierry Henry is currently the best striker in the world. 15m even at his age would be a better option than 20m plus on some random 14 year old Argentinian that you have heard of. Henry plus a decent winger would bring home 19.

Also, your 0.5 goal ratio is wrong. He is at about 0.75 for the last 4 seasons and has outscored Michael Owen every season for the last 6 years.

Not anymore. It's a completely pointless exercise.

Best to let Rafa get on with it. I think waiting to see a new signing play for us, and judging said player on his performances for LFC is the best way to go about it.

For example I said that Cisse was the French Heskey before he even played for us, going on his performances for another club. I also said that Reina was no better than Dudek based on his performances for Villarreal. I realise now how contrite and fallacious those opinions were, whether they turned out to be right or wrong. What players do at the clubs before we sign them is an irrelevance. Rafa knows better than I do.

Henry for £15m isn't a good deal. It would have been a fantastic signing two years ago but not anymore.

                    Pure nonsense AF.

There isn't one manager on this planet who wouldn't give his right arm to sign Henry for 15 million quid. Not only would he represent fantastic value for money on the pitch but off it his shirt sales would make any club plenty of money.

I said that he has scored less than 0.5 goals/game this season and I also pointed out that it's the first season that he has done that since 2000-2001.

He has outscored every player on the planet in the big leagues the last seasons if you don't count this one and if you look on goals/game.

I have had this discussion before. Henry is now paying the price because of his playing style just as more or less anyone with the same playing style as him does at the highest level.

Henry makes many stop and start sprints during a game just as every very quick player does. He and a lot other players pays the price with the same injuries as athletic sprinters gets, hamstring injuries.

It's not anymore complicated than that.

                              12 and scored eight goals.

Only 12 games this season? Far too injury prone
