So other than club managers, who sees it as irritating sideshow?
Come on. Fans of big clubs always have this rep of hating the internationals.

    Liverpool is a big club.

Personally i'm a fan of football first. I love watching the game, be it a Sunday league game, a Smirnoff Irish league game or International.

The raptures Windsor Park's GAWA was in last night exemplifies how much joy football can bring, no matter what standard.

A shame we all can't watch the like of e'too every week.

        Oh more than.

Sweden are a poor side. Show me evidence to the contrary.

They drew 0-0 with the mighty Trinidad and Tobago and couldn’t even beat England in the World Cup. They are renowned for being monotonous, turgid and predictable.

I’m a fan of Liverpool first, football a distant 2nd.

And this coming from someone who played football solidly and competitively for over 10 years.

Yep, it’s about as relevant to LFC as Sylvia Plath.

Exactly what I was going to say. International records only tell part of the story, you really need to see how they are doing week in week out.

I have to agree I am a Liverpool fan first and foremost.

I watch and support England when they are playing but do not get as involved in the game. The exception beeing the later stages of the big tournaments.

Friendly matches hold little interest for me (only really checking no LFC player gets injured). They just provide a good reason to get together with all my mates for a drink.

I find it a lot easier to get over an England defeat and subsequently beeing knocked out of a competition then I do an LFC one.

Because it draws fans of all clubs in not just the two that are playing. Fans that follow their clubs all season care about their club far more, England is just something to fill the void over the summer, when it comes to matchgoing fans all the games England play during the domestic season just pretty much gets on everyone's tits.

And yet England haven't managed to beat them in something silly like 20 years or more

Well Im mates with season ticket holders to Arsenal, Man Utd, Spurs, Chelsea and Liverpool and all support their international teams and only one of them could be classed as very patriotic.

Im sorry, but those who dont give a toss about International football are in the minority. Because the people on this sight are the only ones I know who have these views. Though to be fair, when I go to Anfield England is never the point of discussion.

And I bet that most people who say international football is a waste of time still watched the games.

I usually find that blokes always say they don't care about internaitonal football, and I think that's cos England are usually ****e. I often wonder when the tournaments come round where all these fellas suddenly come from - the ones who pack pubs and clubs etc, and where all the non international fellas go at that time as well, cos the streets are always deserted aren't they?

I bet if England were World Champions it'd be different.

Whatever way you look at it they are always hard to brake down, Shags. They are not wank. The might be boring but they are not wank. Many thought that spain would go all the way to the semi's or even final during the last WC. They are hardly wank either.

Healy might be a ****** though. I have no idea...
