Click the above and look at his goals record on the right. Then compare with:
We need a player with a goals record that Owen, Klose and Villa have. Someone from a top league, Engand, Germany, Spain or Italy and someone who reularly scores goals. Theres no guarantees but lets give ourselves the best possible chance.Forwards.......

I think the reason to why Gerrard knows how to play with Defoe is because he played many years together with Owen and they play in the same way.Just believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I agree 100% that we should be looking at the likes of villa, torres and klose all great strikers and proven scorers as well. My point still stands that i reckon Defoe would be very good at a top 4 club playing regularly......dont reckon we should buy him though as hopefully our days of risky signings are gone_____________________________________

my opinion is that defoe would easily be no.2 choice striker for us, he is "owenesque" and its exactly that type of striker we need.....**** this working hard bollocks, all i want a striker to do is score week in week out!
In an ideal world in the summer we would buy villa or eto (havent decided which i prefer) as a main striker then defoe/huntelaar as backup...sell robbie, or move him to a coaching role, sell bellers and if we can use him as a makeweight for lennon sell crouch too.
None of that will happen though because i want it too!!! :-D

thats where your argument falls downOriginally posted by Xabi_is_God View PostOwen's decline is nothing but a fantasy. Did well at Real when he played. Has scored 7 in 11 for Newcastle.
Surely he cannot be judged until a couple of months into full fitness. He'll probably score more goals than Defoe next season
defoe has scored 17 this season......may break 20 and he has not played all the time for spurs. May break 20 something owen still hasnt done._____________________________________

You telling me Defoe has 17 in the league this season? Cos I know he hasn't.
and if you're implying that Owen has never scored more than 20 in all comps in a season, I know you're lying.James Philip Milner Fanclub #1

He scored more than 20 in 5 seasons. hasn't done so in the premiership but has scored 19 twice and 18 twice in the premiership.
fact is that michael Owen has an amazing goalscoring record 181 goals in 353 appearances(better than 1 in 2 appearances). a world class record that i reckon Defoe will never get anywhere near. Whether or not Owen will continue this after his injury, no one knows but i suspect he will.
