I think Zenden was ok. If he keeps performing like this he'll be a very good back up player in midfield. Considering he joined Liverpool for free I think Rafa has done a good job signing him.

Reina - 7 - communicated well, filled the defence with confidence
Finnan - 7 - mr consistency played the same game he always does.
Carra - 8 - completely nullified dogbreath and really helped young agger
Agger - 8 - what can you say. out injured for ages and kept sheva in his pocket for most of the game. gonna be some centre half this lad
Riise - 7 - good solid game defensively and also johnny rockets scored a wonder goal against chelsea (again)
pennant - 6 - not too involved in game but held his position well and stayed out wide, helping the team keep its shape
momo - 9 - wow. the mans a freak
zenden - 6 - looks better in the centre. not a winger. will improve with more games under his belt after long injury lay-off
speedy - 6 - improved showing from his pre-season games, getting rid of his nerves a bit now
garcia - 6 - in and out of the game
crouch - 7 - battled well, excellent goal. left isolated too often - needs a partner
subs - all subs done o.k. and would give them a 6, bar bellamy who gets a 7 for an excellent cross, although he drifts out wide a bit too much ala dean saunders
Man of the match - RAFA - wiped his arse all over maureen by telling him his reserves can beat chelsea, and then they did!

Gonzo and Pennant didn't do too much but they gave us a good shape.

SO true. While neither of them were anything like at their best, they give us such great shape and searing pace either side of Crouch. We look a very formidable outfit going forward with this new added width.

Thought Brendan was harsh on Zenden. I'm far from his biggest fan but he did alright. A 7/10 for me.

Momo was an absolute COLOSSUS. I can't quite believe how good he is.

The first thing I thought when I saw the team was "very cunning, Rafa". It looked a weak side on paper but in reality only Zenden and perhaps Agger are not bona-fide first team material. Reina, Finnan, Carra, Riise, Sissoko, Gonzalez, Pennant, Garcia and Crouch are all worthy first team members. Then, despite Mourinho's pre-match bollocks, we go and beat them with supposedly the more 'under-strength' of the two starting XIs. The fact that we still had such strength to call on from the bench is indicative of what a good job Rafa is doing with this squad.

Oh and I also thought Brendan's 6/10 for Agger was harsh. He slotted in seamlessly and I LOVE the way he strides out of his starting position to nick the ball away from his man and then move gracefully forward in possession. He really does remind me of Hansen in that sense - not that I want to put too much pressure on him.

Agrre completely. We bossed the midfield first half and it wasn't ALL down to Momo, as awesome as he was. Bolo more than played his part.

I know a lot of you were of the opinion that it "didn't really matter".

Well, it did. And we won. True to form Benitez picked an unpickable line-up. Perhaps a response to The Cnut's "beat them at 50%" bollocks?

Reina (7). Left helpless by a class striker

Finnan (6). Carried on where he left off: a quality RB who can over-lap. Question mark about the goal, though.

Agger (6). He and Carra were thrown together and did more than OK. Hope he stays fit and starts to challenge Sami

Carra (6). Apart from the Shev moment, looked good.

Riise (7). Who the fcuk was that divvy blabbing on about Johnny Rockets not being good enough to play against top clubs like Chelsea? Three goals so far in a two seasons. Haha.

Sissoko (8) MOTM. Some awful passing at times, largely outweighed by a fcuking MONSTROUS midfield display in general. Great to see.

Zenden (5). Average.

Tennants (6). Not as great as his Euro display, but enough guile, pace and running to make us happy.

Gonzo (5). Pretty average really, should have done more damage to a wobbly Abramovich defence.

Garcia (6). Even when it doesn't always come off, he is so obviously one of the best, most creative forwards at Anfield.

Rodders (7). Did fcuk all for most of the game, as he allowed Shev to look what he is: a striker worth 10 times more and 10 times better. And then an unsaveable header from a great Bellers cross. Keep it up and you can save your place in the Liverpool side.

Bellamy (7). A fcuking menace
Aurelio (5). Er, you're not in Brazil any more, son. But I LIKE you

Gerrard/ Alonso (whatever) Brilliant players
