    Now confirmed

Liverpool defender-cum-midfielder Fabio Aurelio has ruptured his Achilles tendon, it emerged after the 3-0 Champions League win over PSV.

Aurelio pulled up in agony after catching his studs in the turf and was stretchered off in agony after 73 minutes.

His right Achilles seemed to be the problem and it was confirmed after the match that he will miss the rest of the season - and a significant past of the next campaign - with the injury.

The left-sided Brazil player, 27, had recently begun to impress for the Reds and provided two assists in the 4-1 thrashing of Arsenal the previous weekend. Aurelio was signed from Valencia in the summer and missed a large part of the 2003/4 season with a broken leg.

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

How is that deluded? Rafa has yet to confirm that FA has snapped his achilles, therefore I can only hope he is available for selection in the next few days.

I admire your optimism Marcus - but I'll be astonded if it's not a very serious injury. Sadly.

Sad news, but let's be honest, we knew we were getting an injury-prone player when we signed Fabio.

We've got Gonzalez, Riise (and Kewell in 2 weeks!) so we're covered on the left hand side.

Arebloa is also more than capable of playing at left back, as we already know.

                  Nothing we cant handle.

Ruptured means a tear across the length of the tendon whereas snapped means completely off. Pretty much the same time out of football though as it will require surgery and Long Rehabilitation afterwards. Doesnt need to be career ending as suggested on here, but he needs to be handled properly now

No offence at all Kurt, but i don't like to see posts like this so soon after the incident.

You'd think everyone would learn from the Momo debacle we had.

If you're referring to Zenden, i would say he is more of an inside-left player. Didn't impress me as a winger, nor as a central midfielder, but that's only my opinion.
