Well personally myself I think we will be in for a big signing upfront this summer. fingers crossed it will be eto'o
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

I dont think anyone has said categorically, that we WILL sign him.

Saying that they WANT us to sign him, is nothing strange. Of course we'd WANT to sign him.

I know we will sign Eto'o this summer.

I think we'll sign Darren Bent.
"With Ron Yeats in defence, we could play Arthur Askey in goal."

              FORE!
              .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Also Villa has stated on a couple of occassions that, whilst he appreciates Liverpool as a football club etc etc., he doesn't like the weather, or the Beatles

Eto'o, on the other hand, is a genuinely realistic prospect for us this summer. A fee in the region of £20m would be enough for Barcelona to take serious consideration into selling him IF there are still question marks over his commitment to them IMO. I would roll out the red carpet for either player, both the kind of class we need to challenge for the league.
True. Add to the fact that Valencia don't need to sell. They have cash, don't forget they easily dwarfed our record signing by splashing out on Joaquin.

Barca obviously don't need to sell, the only fact is Eto'o wanted by them?

Either would be great, but with Chelski, Mancs and others needing a striker it will be a very interesting summer.
                Forwards.......

I'd hate to see what would happen if Eto'o scored a hat-trick in a LFC shirt

I hope the word is "interesting" as opposed to "disappointing". I think Eto'o is a very real possibility and I would love to see him at Liverpool, but if he doesn't arrive (and Villa doesn't either) then I think we will be struggling to find a player that reaches our current requirements up front and is also available.

Torres, Klose and Bent would be an improvement. Everyone dismisses Torres but he was far and away the best striker Spain had in the World Cup. He needs a change of club. I hear the mancs are interested and a forward line of Ronaldo, Rooney and Torres would blow teams out of the water.

Klose and Bent are capable of scoring in the air or with either foot and if they got chances they'd get 15-20 prem goals.

i think it's because Villa has said in the past he would never move to England

                          I'd rather have eto'o anyway

but i agree with shaggy, about the erection and that he will probably stay at barca

People have to remember that our record signing was a deadbeat for £14m.

I just can't see Rafa breaking that by double, which is what it would take to sign Eto'o or Villa.

But new owners could easily mean a change in philospohy. We'll see.

I am fairly certain that David Villa is a regular at Anfield watching his mates play.
I'm the best there is at what I do, but what I do best, isn't very nice

You have to look at it this way.
The have been living in Spain, its hot, they have a siesta during the day, there is less fixtures, they play for clubs with big champions league credentials. Its a hard bargain unless silly wages are invloved, which i dont think rafa would pay, maybe it has changed now like but i dont know.
I cant think of the last BIG player barca sold? or Valencia?
