A fit Owen is the best option but the problem is that he isn't fit and no one knows how fit he will be.

My four strikers....Crouch, Owen, Huntelaar and Tevez.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

      Look at Mascherano.
If only he'd have spoke to dear old Lucas at West Ham, then we wouldn't be stuck with that Spanish lad who hasn't had a bad game for us yet

      Forwards.......

        That is why.
Oh please, of course they say this now, as they want to make it known that they dont want to sell...

I'm sure we were doing the same with Gerrard and Chelsea. Then he said he wanted to go and suddenly, we were going to do business at £35m.

Clubs say stuff all the time, most of it means feck all.

Madrid president: "We will never never sign Beckham"

That summer: "Beckham joins Real Madrid"

Come on, he's way out of our price range. Whilst I don't believe his transfer will be anywhere near that quoted, it still signals the intent that they want a a record transfer fee (or as near as) for the guy. He will go for the £30M mark, and we have a kitty of £40M, thats pure madness.

The Beckham thing has no relevance whatsoever to this. Madrid don't want Beckham and they buy him, big deal. They had the funds to do so all along.

We'll be looking at strikers up to the £20M mark IMO. Anyway, there is no way I'd be happy spending that sort of money on one foreign striker, its always so hit and miss whether a forward will make it in the premiership.

If I was to bring in a foreign striker, I think we could nab Eto'o for around that sort of figure following his bust up this season, but then following their CL failure this season, things could change at the Camp Nou and he may be back in favour with the new boss.

"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

How do you know what our kitty is?

I'm just going by the figure that has been touted in the media for the last week.

That's pure guess work though on the media's part - where would they get that info from?
I'm 100% certain that our transfer record will be shattered to oblivion this summer. I would not rule out a 30 million pound buy at all - be that Villa, Eto'o or whomever is open to debate.

Things get leaked to the media, and equally things printed in the media are complete fabrication, but you can only go by what information you have in front of you.

Forgive me for stating the obvious, but aren't you just completely guessing that we'll have a large transfer kitty with no substance whatsoever?

How is it that you both know we'll have loads to spend. Which of you know's George then?

I don't know for sure, but the fact that people within the club have bandied the names of Villa, Eto'o and Torres as realistic targets lead me to be convinced of this fact. Of course I could be wrong.

£40m would not even be enough to sign Eto'o.
