that's a big if! he has the talent, but not sure if he has the desire to up roots and prove himself in a more physical and faster league.

The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

Between the ages pf 24-27 he was easily in the top 5 players in the world.

Remind me just how many players have more goals than Raul in the European Cup ?

              He was class, world class.

Completely agree. But if Rafa was convinced he was willing and wanted to prove himself again it would certainly be a risk worth considering in my opinion. It would depend on the fee and wages as to whether it would be worth it IMO.

Top 5, I would agree with you.

Raul is actually the top goalscorer of all time in the Champions League/European cup with 56. Shevchenko is one goal behind him, followed by horse face, Di Stefano and Eusebio.

I don't think people are doubting his class at that time - it's just a pretty bold statement to say he was THE best player in the world.

FWIW, I think it would be way too much of a risk - he's nowhere near the player he was, and who knows how he would adapt to life at Anfield.

No. I don't see the point. We are at a point where we can buy a top of the range striker now and I don't think that Raul is in that bracket any more.
2Million would definitely be a great deal for some club, but not for us. A few years ago, I would have bitten your hand off for Raul, but I really see him now as a spent force, á la Robbie Fowler.

Agreed. The only reason he still hangs on at Madrid is down to the power he has had at the club. The fans would probably revolt if he left.

I've got to agree, Raul isn't half the player he was and I doubt he would make much of an impact here.

He has been a servant for Real, he should be allowed to retire there.
