Spot on. But still getting in and out is a real pain in the arse. Given we're so close to the M57, M58 & M62 we should utilise that as an advantage, and (as an example) stations such as Aintree & Old Roan are within a stone's throw of the said motorways, the intrfastrucure is already there - we just need to add to it, not generate it.

Rick Parry looked into moving to a more 'convenient' location nearer motorways etc. - he found that it would devastate the local economy.

So while it makes financial sense to the club, it would lead to a lot of unhappy scousers

As much as I would prefer the ease of getting there, it would be a bit harsh

And a lot of happier ones...just elsewhere in the city. (When you say "local economy" you just mean Anfield economy rather than Liverpool economy I assume). Business is business. If there was some sort of "incentive" for the existing businesses to move with the club that would help. But don't forget that the existing businesses have had the "benefit" of being in a prime spot near the club for years, unlike other Liverpool businesses who've just had to attract punters based on the usual merits, rather than proximity to LFC. One could easily argue that it's fair for these other Liverpool businesses to have that benefit now, rather than those just in Anfield.

If the Anfield area can't hold a world class sized football venue then it has to be moved to somewhere in Liverpool which can accommodate it. i.e. Speke.

I agree with what you're saying mate, but all I'm saying is that it's obviously been considered and kicked out.

I think Lecter might know more about the investigation the club made

Aye, the question is can Lecter stop himself from replying to a Stadium thread?

PS Presumably the various grants for staying nearby were a significant factor in the decision

I've always thought this grant's business was a bit of a red herring, it's well under 10% of the total cost of the project. Hardly deal breaking if that money doesn't come in.

They'd probably save the equiavlent to those grants by not having to upgrade the infrastructure if the club moved nearer to already existing infrastructure.
