You know with comments like that I'm happy to say that I would pay double for my season ticket and stay at Anfield with 45k and leave all the "five games a season" fans outside. Friggin Widnes!!!! The club won't be healthy without us as it would lose its soul. Even Boltons move to Horwich has lost them fans. Imagine moving to Widnes!!!!!Originally posted by Marsh View Postthe reality is if the club went down "this is widnes" route that it would still fill a stadium and therefore very possibly win more titles.
and while some of us said it was better in the old days the club would carry on and be healthy without us.
No offence to any fans in Widnes by the way but your town really is a ****hole

Great memories never mind football - the good old days, i remember the streets being chocker with cars parked in every entry and the money i 'earned' through minding cars in the Clapham/Hornsey roads area, plus did you actually bump into Sir Bob in that cobblers behind Watersons chemist yourself? My sister used to work in that chemist and often served a legend or two, Ray Clemence once i think.Originally posted by wavydavy View PostThere's a word for people who oppose the stadium getting built.................... Evertonians. As someone rightly pointed out the problem is not congested roads it's parking. This problem is about to be eradicated with residents parking permits. Honestly you can't imagine what it was like growing up in Anfield during the 70s. Scotland vs Wales in 1977 was just one of the best days of my life. Drinking tea with the jocks who put up tents in Stanley Park! Kenny scoring the greatest (headed) goal ever at Anfield.
Bumping into Bob Paisley going to the cobblers at the top of Wenlock Road with boots that needed mending!!. It would break my heart to see the stadium moved to another part of the city. I think most residents of Anfield, red or blue, would , retrospectively, feel the same way.l

bridgy i understand the point you are making but i just think that its too sentimental for the world we operate in.
Bolton lost fans i bet they are bothered now that they finnish alot higher than they did do?
i would love for the kop to be all standing for no sponsorship on shirts. For us to stay at Anfield. The reality is the game has moved on for better or worse. and we have to move with it. When we where winning tittles regularly we moved with the times but now we cling to the golden past too much.
We need to move on become progessive and get real. we are owned by yanks managed by a spaniard. we have changed let us the fans embrace he change and help to take the club to the very top again.
lets enjoy the memories but thats what they are memories.

I don't want to get at you but for ****s sake why do you want to move out of Liverpool? In fact I've decided you're a Chelsea plant and you're just winding me up.

i am not saying move the club to preston but as i was born in southport and lived most of my life in Preston. oh lived in dundee, chesterfield and milton keynes. And certainly in in most of those northern places i met alot of LFC fans from all over the place.
G&H dont care who comes to watch as long as they pay. The brand is strong enough to withstand in not being all people from liverpool who watch.
All my family apart from one deluded manc ( we have no idea why he is a manc apart from the obvious brainlessness) my grandad is from Liverpool. I have always followed Liverpool.
I have no issue with us being in Anfiled. As i stated i would love us to stay there. but every other club is moving on. We cant have sucess in our current form. hence the new stadium, hence the sale of the club to facilitate the move, hence Rafa being given more money.
We have a choice change or accept we wont be where we once were.
i would rather we made brave choices and moved forwards. I dont want to talk to my grandkids in years gone by talking of the glory days of liverpool who hadnt won a league title for 50 years.
I dont want us to be a chelski but for as much as i dislike the scum the business model they have works. And we need to follow it or at least certain elements of it.

i dont think i said we should move out of Liverpool. I have said on more than one occasion that I would love us to stay where we are but it wont help us move forwards will it. I certainly would draw the line at moving too far away from our current location.
I am certainly not a chavski plant. or a scum plant or a bitter.

See I have a problem with "business model". Its football not business. I know we have to move with the times a little but if we ended up as the "new Man U" come 2010 then I'd be prepared to kick myself in the face. As mentioned earlier why follows some ******* mancs or west enders.
This is Anfield...remember that. Plough our own furrow, stay in Anfield and build on that. If it was just money we could double our ticket prices and still sell out (most games).
Sorry mate but you're getting the ****ty end of a very pissed off stick.

lets agree to disagree, football is now a business and as much as i dislike it i do accept it and the things that go with it.
I am not hiding from the reality of the world in which the club now operates. and why are you pissed off with me? i have given an opinion, you dont agree, i dont agree with what you are saying but i am not pissed off.
YOu seem to think i want to move from Anfiled or the Anfield area. i have said this is not true many times now yet you ignore that.
On the subject of ticket prices one thing i am very proud of is that our clubs are some of the cheapest in the league. But Hicks mentioned the arses game day revenue being the target. now are costs are probably lower so therefore we could still be cheaper than them but with the same margins. i accept that ticket prices will go up.
I dont understand why we are all so reluctant to make changes. as i said our history is great but its history the future is what matters. Its time for us to make our history.
And believe me the board will run it very much as a business. why? as everyone else does now and thats the way for us to invest more money on players and it will make the business very much self sufficient unlike chelski.
As much as i detest the scum if they win the league it means more than if chelski do as i can lie back and say chelski only bought it where as the scum generate the money themselves. Thats what we have to do. Hopefully with more class than they did but obviously i want chelski to win the league now that we cant mainly as i can write it off as rich man buying the league so it means nothing. Also to stop the scum getting any closer in terms of titles.

Who's talking about Widnes? We're talking about staying in Liverpool, just moving 2-3 miles down the road. I'm a Scouser born and bred and I want to see LFC successful. To do that we need to compete. To do that we need a bigger ground. 60,000 isn't enough, so we move within the city boundaries. Yes, it'll be sad to move out of Anfield, but the place is a nightmare to get to whether you live in the city or out of it. The parking near the ground is atrocious, and you can't expand taht too much cos you've got the Crem on one side. 80,000+ and stay - I'll go for that -otherwise in my book we have to move.

"Widnes" was used as a euphemism for not in Anfield.Originally posted by Kopite_Colin View PostWho's talking about Widnes? Remember seeing Bob once or twice in those days. Most of the players were spotted along Priory Road at some time. They oten stopped of at the paper shops, chemists etc. I was fotunate enought to have Joe Fagan as a friend(in the loosest possible terms!!) and neighbour for the last year or two of his life. A lovely fella. Imagine what you would have expected him to be and that was him!! Oh yea, Sammy Lee once told me and my mate to "**** off" outside the Welcome.Originally posted by Marshy View PostGreat memories never mind football - the good old days, i remember the streets being chocker with cars parked in every entry and the money i 'earned' through minding cars in the Clapham/Hornsey roads area, plus did you actually bump into Sir Bob in that cobblers behind Watersons chemist yourself?
