I went in to wake my sons up this morning, by the time they had got out of bed they were clapping and singing the new song/chant.

Almost brings a tear to the eye!

(I'm still undecided as to whether I agree with it, don't get me wrong, love the song, love the passion from the PAOK fans, but still feel we've robbed it. Then again, history has to start somewhere)

The Offal states it's origin is thought to be Argentina? I know we've seeen clips of the PAOK fans giving it a fantastic rendition, but could it be they learnt it from our cousins in South America themselves?

A lot of the older people who left 30-40 or even 50 years ago to make their money abroad either yearn to go back or actually do so in their retirement. It is a beautiful country, quite a different culture to this country although the lifestyle is becoming more Westernised.

Great place to retire to but I dont think I'd want to work there. I was offered a job out there a few years ago with a big corporate firm but didnt really consider it. I chose teaching instead

I posted a link to a youtube video within this thread where the Argies are singing their own version for an international match, the words are different though.
          Found it: Argies
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

          * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

I think it ok, but shuldn't over sung, as we don't actually rule the country, once we grab the PL, then we can use it.. maybe if it was rule in europe and saved for euro nights

I think that a lot of the older songs are better anyway, this gets a bit repetitive quickly..

anyway, i'll reserve proper judgement until after chelsea come to ours

Problem is, in Spanish I think it is pronounced with a 'ch' sound, hence the ole ole ole version as well. So in campioni Liverpool it is a hard c and in the new song it should actually be campione after all and is a 'ch' sound. I think

If it from the Italian (which the 84 song was I believe) Then it should be pronounced camp-yoni (which means champions) if however you say campione you are referring to the first person. I.e I am a champion.

Not sure where the ch sound comes from to be honest.

repetitive after 20 mins in ONE game???

wait till the whole ground is singing it on Tuesday and then tell me it's repetitive.

For that matter please be assured that those of us who stand on the Kop have been dying for a new chant for our CL run this season and THIS IS IT!
'Of course I didn't take my wife to see Rochdale as an anniversary present.
                  It was her birthday.
Would I have got married during the football season ?
                  Anyway, it was Rochdale reserves.'

Yeah that's what I mean, the campioni Liverpool song is from the Italian, as you say came about that Rome win. But this PAOK thing is from an Argie chant originally, so I was wondering if it's a Spanish thing that has led to the change.

I don't know **** all about Spanish so I couldn't tell you for sure. Thinking of teh few Spanish words I know I would have thought they use a hard 'c' too, 'cabron' is not pronounced 'chabron' etc. In which case it's just a *******isation.

Not so sure about all of the words.

Methinks it may get changed along the way..

I'm not saying it won't be sung.

I think it sounds great and original but just not to sure about

                                "One and only"

                                and

                                "They say"

                                "Scousers rule the country" etc.

                                The words may be changed.
