If you want to criticise the lads performance then fair enough but to criticise the lads charcter and hunger is complete nonsense.
So we can criticise Cisse's attitude but not Stevies? Take the blinkers off mate.

To win the league, we must be much much much more aggressive and adopt a bit of a cavalier attitude against the lesser teams away from home.
        Go and watch them then.

not good enough, doesn't matter if its the first, last or somewhere inbetween game of the season. We will never compete, let alone win the league with the crap wide players we have now, kyut as our allegedly lone striker and no creativity to come off the bench to unlock a stubborn defence. Bring on the summer signings, all of our last summers signings have all been a letdown.

Cisse's effort was never in question his attitude towards the manager not selecting him was.

If I remember rightly I've never criticised Cisse's attitude anyway. I've criticsed him for missing an open goal at old toilet though.Nothing blinkered in that mate.

It horrifies me to say that I was serious actually. We were awful and I just hope that we won't be going through the motions as from now in the league.

:whatever: Why would beating Middlesborough make them "great" Boro is the type of team they should be beating.

Fickle? No, just able to say something is poor when it is, as well as being able to give credit when it is due.

Dunphy to be sure can be annoying but he has the honesty to say what a lot of us keep to ourselves. Gerrard can never be termed a great until he convinces against both great and lesser opposition i.e Barnes,Souness,Hansen,Rush,Whelan.
Gerrard walked around the pitch today how can other players be inspired when your captain looks as though he'd rather be watching the national or scoring another last minute final goal.

If I'm not mistaken that tends to be what happens, no? I'm sure if Stevie scored the winner against Boro most you would all be saying how he's back to his best etc...

Like wise after he's hit a bit of a dodgy spell some you say how he's not interested etc...:whatever:

There's even a thread where anfieldanfield basically questions whether stevie's past it.

Well he did look disinterested tonight, that's not a guess, it is how he looked . As to what is actually going on in his head, or how he really feels, he is the only person who can answer that.

If he had a great game against Boro I would not be hearlding him, and saying he was back to his best. If he managed to throw a consistent run of good performances, with maybe the odd great one, together, then I would be saying that it looks like he is on form, and justifying the "world class" tag that he has gotten.

I would love for anyone who watched the game today to honestly tell me that he looked bothered about the game today. He looked totally disinteresed in the game, anytime he lost a ball, he just stopped.

How do the players at Chelsea and Man Utd, plus the other big European clubs, who have all had to play with the same World cup sandwiched between the seasons, manage to deal with fatigue?
apples with coconuts how many chave or scum have played for virtually 3 years without a break? 2004 Euros, 2005 Champions League Qualifiers, 2006 World Cup Its not just the World Cup is it

Disgraceful tackle. I was on the front row (saw myself on MOTD ) and hence at ground/pitch level, and Barton's tackle was appalling. Gerrard did well to run straight off and laugh about it.

Good song to the Citeh fans who were dishing out the usual Scouse-bashing...(to the 'five times' tune)
