For all we know Voronin might take to the Prem like a duck to water yet he might turn out to be as useful as tits on a nun. The point is we dont know so no one has the right to slag him off.

Granted, I slagged Pennant off (and still do) before he came but the difference is he was already a Prem player. This bloke isnt so until he has had time in our shirt, no one should be kicking off on how **** he is. Im sure people said Arbeloa was not the standard we should be getting he, so far, is a cracking player. Maybe Voronin will come good.

The thing is, he's already well on the way to achieving cult status. Everyone thinks he's so crap that as soon as he scores a goal we'll all go mental for him. If he scores more than one then he will become our new cult hero a la Eric Meijer who was an atrocious footballer but we all still loved him.

Then have some faith in Rafa's decision to buy him instead of wishing ill on the player.

There's many reasons why even with big money that the top players can't be signed therefore managers have to use what talent is available. Sometimes even top players fail to make it at a club i.e Morientes and sometimes what appears a dodgy buy can turn golden i.e.Crouch.

I don't think he will be. Rafa wants to keep the reserves for youngsters, not fringe first teamers. I think he'll be back-up for the First XI but I'm sure Rafa knows where he's going to fit in - probably back-up to Little Luis. Robbie hasn't played much but he also hasn't played much for the reserves - it'll be a similar situation I suspect.

He scored on his debut against Wednesday and then I really warmed to him when he scored against the hammers the day his father died. And who can forget that goal at Highbury?

I know what you mean, but I think the people having a pop are basing it on what they've seen of the player - and you can do no more than that.

I've seen him play for the Ukraine a few times, and I've watched him three or four times in Leverkusen's UEFA Cup run this season.

He's been really dreadful.

If we hadn't signed him and someone asked me, based on those performances, what I thought of Voronin...I'd say "he's ****".

Naturally I'll give him a chance and I'll cheer him heartily the first time I see him play, but it's a curious signing.
