    Pennant

For a guy that took so much abuse and stick on here from fans when he arrived I thinks its time we accepted that ol' microphone head has improved so much to warrant an appreciation thread. He's been man of the match on here a few times recently, is a consistant threat from the right wing, is keeping gerrard in the centre of midfield and is a pleasure to watch. Not quite the full article yet but he's certainly on the right track.

    All hail jermaine pennant.
    Fernando Torres

I dont just love him, I'm IN love with him

I wouldn't go as far as to hail him yet. But yes, you are completely right. He has found his confidence, and is now starting to consistently do his job.

Time will tell if he can improve further, and start winning games for us on a regular basis.
    Oh I don't know.

if he continues playing with confidence like that, the lad will be an England regular before long.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Not much of a complement that at the minute.

His confidence is growing and the lad is showing glimpses of his talent now. I feel there's still plenty to come from him as he's not shown his true talent yet. He could still run at people a lot more, take more shots and be a little bit more confident. He could become a cracking player and one who could banish all our right sided problems if he continues to progress.

            Big up for Mr. Pennant.

he's still far from a 7/8 million pound player

Yeah I'm so pleased that he's starting to show form, as I was really disappointed with the level of abuse that he was subjected to by some of our "fans".

He's far from the finished article but I hope that he continues to mature as a player and starts to win some matches for us with goals that will serve to increase his already improved confidence even more.

Well in Mr P, and good post.

Yes but you must admit, he's a lot closer than people gave him credit for in early season.

I like Pennant, he has shown a great deal of potential since the turn of the year, but I'll only consider him an effective attacking midfielder if and when he starts scoring.

12 goals in nearly 200 career games.

                    Woeful.

Im happy to say that I was not one of those who gave him stick. I always thought he needed to be given at least a season.

Since Christmas he has been our most consistant performer apart from Carra and Finnan.

That said he will never satisfy some people

The value of a player isn't to be judged independently. Is Carrick an £ 18 million pound player ? The answer is probably no but he's still a vital cog in United's midfield and he's started to score regularly of late.

I'd judge him more on the assists than goals scored.

I like him. I think he is trying hard. He is staying out of the off-field "limelights" since his move to us, but he's 24 going on 25. That's the age wingers peak. He's only above average now, not world beaters like C.Ronaldo, Giggs, Robben etc. He's got very limited repertoires.

If he's 19 or 20, he can still develop. But I would say that's the best he can offer. Squad player, and a very useful one at that.
