He scored some goals and played excellent for us before his injury problems started IMO. After that he hasn't really been 100% fit.

Don't forget that when he's been fit over the past couple of years, Rafa has played him.
I remember reading somewhere about how Rafa saw Kewell for the first time when Leeds played Valencia in the Champions League in about 2001, and he's never forgotten how good he was that night.
It explains why he's been thrown into massive games like the League Cup Final and Champions League Final when he probably wasn't ready for it. I know he limped off in the FA Cup Final too, but that one was bad luck, he'd been having a good run in the side up until then.
I think we need him back. We are short of decent options on the left.Dreams come true. Without that possibility, nature would not incite us to have them.

But he's been injured virtually all the time time he's been here. I don't recall him ever playing "excellent" for us since he signed.Last edited by Kopite_Colin; 22-04-07, 01:23 PM.

He's put in plenty MOM performances for us, I can't pin point exact matches cos we're going back last season and the one before, but he did very well in the closing stages of last season if you recall.Originally posted by Kopite_Colin View PostBut he's been injured virtually all the time time he's been here. 1) excellent I'd say there's plenty of time he's been excellent hence MOM
2) consistent Maybe not but his injuries have played a massive part in that
3) conistently MOM This is just points 1 and 2 rolled into one really, you can do better than thatThomas Hicks Senior

agreed, if and when he is fully fit we have no one better on the LW.Originally posted by Harveybirdman View PostI cant wait for him to get back
I just hope he is over these niggling injuries, and can resume his career.
He is our best Left sided player when fit, and we will be better of if he is fir and firing

Exactly, that's why we need him. I've already posted this on another thread, but the only real weakness Chelsea haveis at RB, so we need a top quality LW for that game. If he came back and had a decent game he could easily be the match winner for us. With no Essien and only Diarra or Ferreira at RB he could have a field day.Originally posted by red g View Posthardly difficult to be our best left midfieder though!!
Kewell has been our best LW for ages, even when only 70% fit. If he has "Olympic" fitness levels and the ozzies have finally cured him, then all the doubters on here be prepared to shut the **** up. If he gets injured long term again then I will on this subject, but I have confidence in him.Forwards.......
