Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

no last night highlighted the importance of if someone is playing on the right of midfield then they need to feckin well stay over there, instead of leaving it 2 on 1 all the time against whoever our right back is

Gerrard has played in front of Finnan for the majority of the season.

Personally I feel that Finnan would have covered Cole's run for the goal and his ability to cross with either foot is an invaluable facet of our attack.

To say on the strength of a few decent performances, that Arebola should be ahead of Finnan, who has rarely put a foot wrong in three seasons, seemed extremely churlish.

You know as well as I do that Gerrard was nowhere to be seen on the right hand side last night, now we know he's not discplined enough to stay there the whole game, but he wasn't there at all last night and that is always going to put pressure on the right back

Personally I feel it wouldn't have made a great deal of difference who played there, he would never have got far enough up the pitch to cross, and for me arbeloa is a better crosser of the ball from what i've seen

Goin for the in form player who offers most to the team, and for me Arbeloa recently was offering more than finnan
