hes one of, if not the hottest "prospect" in world football...given the fact that villa is apparently not going anywhere for less than 45 million, defoe is worth 12 million and eto'o is 25 million +, can you see Torres being allowed to leave for under £20 mill?

I agree it would surprise me if he went for less than £20 million

In fact bearing in mind that Carrick went for £17 million its highly likely that Torres' fee will be inflated also

he has been one of the hottest players for over 3-4 years now. the hype has finally hyped down, and is not as sought after talked about striker he was a few years back...

don't know who would sign him for over 20 mill apart from the mancs, as they have a history of paying more than asked for

i tend to agree, my point was that even though he isnt the player we were all led to believe he is, 20 mill is still achievable....i could see chelsea, manu, barca and real all paying that for him.
Hes not even in my top 6 players to sign.....

I wouldn't spend a lot of money on Torres. He's not that special, and there have been plenty of players who were prolific strikers in Spain but couldn't come near that level in the Premiership, or weren't very productive in the Premiership and then became very much so in spain. Morientes, Luque, Kanoute, Pongolle, Forlan, Baptista to name a few.

Other than Eto'o, I'm not too interested in any striker from La Liga.

These fees are always difficult to judge - I remember when Reyes went to Arsenal and right up to the day he left people were quoting £25m+. Then he signed for ~12m conditionally rising to £17m if I remember.

I think some people mix up the € and the £, if you know what I mean. Torres buy out is probably €27,000,000.

The only way I can see us going for Torres is if he is cheap (under £20 million) and our other priority targets are unavailable

Personally I dont believe they will sell at that price but you never know
