    Dudek the slave

    Taken from skysports.

Jerzy Dudek has revealed he plans to leave Liverpool as he is unhappy with his current situation.

The Polish international's current contract expires at the end of the season and he says he has no intention of signing a new deal.

Dudek has been forced to play second fiddle to Jose Reina since the Spaniard's arrival in the summer of 2005.

The 34-year-old claims he has been treated like "a slave" by Reds boss Rafa Benitez and he insists he has not other choice but to seek pastures new.

"I have to finally tell Rafa I'm leaving because maybe he's not aware of it," Dudek told The ***.

"I will remember Liverpool fondly as a success but not the situation I've found myself in.

"When a player knows he is a slave, he'll never give his employer his heart."

Dudek also revealed that Liverpool only want to keep him because they would find it hard to lure a goalkeeper to the club with the prospect of sitting on the bench.

"To get a good keeper, they'd have to spend £3million to £4million and then Rafa would have to tell that keeper: `You're going to sit on the bench'.

"But no respected keeper would come under those terms and that's why they prefer to keep me."

Dudek's former club Feyenoord and Wolfsburg are both thought to be monitoring the 34-year-old's situation at Anfield.

          Jerzey Dudek

          From F365

Jerzy Dudek will quit Liverpool this summer after claiming he is fed up of being treated like "a slave".

The club's 2005 Champions League hero has played only a handful of games since rival goalkeeper Jose Reina arrived at Anfield two summers ago and is out of contract at the end of the season.

The 34-year-old Poland international, a target for Wolfsburg and former club Feyenoord, told The ***: "I have to finally tell Rafa I'm leaving because maybe he's not aware of it.

"I will remember Liverpool fondly as a success but not the situation I've found myself in.

"When a player knows he is a slave, he'll never give his employer his heart."

Dudek has warned his fellow keepers off signing for Liverpool, saying manager Rafael Benitez will treat them in exactly the same way.

He said: "To get a good keeper, they'd have to spend £3million to £4million and then Rafa would have to tell that keeper: 'You're going to sit on the bench'.

"But no respected keeper would come under those terms and that's why they prefer to keep me."
Thats sounds very bitter to me. Its not rafa's fault that Jerzey let in 6 goals when given a chance this season. Thanks for the memories Jerzey but its time to grow up and realise that football is a harsh business. Reina is clearly the better keeper, thus is first choice - again not rafa's fault.

By going to the press like this shows a very petulant side, and ensures that he will be sold this summer. However, is also ensures that he will have burnt his bridges with the fans. By trying to put other keepers off coming to Liverpool is childish in the extreme amd I for one have lost a whole lot of respect for the man.

Dudek is not even good enough to be a stand in now so the sooner we get rid the better. Really he should have left in 2005.

He does make a good point though, what quality keeper could we bring in who'd be willing to be number 2 to Reina? Shame Carson doesnt seem willing to do it.

The Dude has a point though. He's a proven international GK having him as backup is good business for the club. Carson could be the 'other' slave here.

But when he's stepped in he's been woeful. Age, lack of concentration whatever, I dont know, but he's clearly not up to it.

Either way, it is a thankless task sitting on the bench and only playing in the dead rubber games. I wonder if Carson has the concentration for it as well, aside from whetehr he's willing or not.

He should wind his neck in ... really what does he expect to gain from coming out with this?? He is behind Reina for a reason ...
