Sure, I can agree with most of what you say.Originally posted by Monkeywool View PostIt is exactly the sort of thing you want your captain to say, just before he delivers a somewhat overdue performance against the chavs in the biggest stage of all. One step gone now please deliver.
As far as footballers being priviledged yeah they are, but at the end of the day they have been dedicated to something all their lives and are reaping the rewards, anyone who begrudges them that is just pissed at themselves that they missed the boat. While some kids were at home playing nintendo or whatever, kids like Gerrard were going straight from school to training and then back to school again, sacrificing their usual childhood to get what? No guarenteed job unless they make it. Fair play to the dedication and balls it takes to try to be a top flight footballer when you are a kid.
I don't begrudge him success at all, but sacrifices or not, he is privileged.
Thing is, that I don't see what good him saying this in the press will do in any way. It serves more to alienate SG from some fans. And he cannot touch Carra or Fowler for me after his Chav flirts earlier. But there is a time and a place for that debate, and it is not now for sure.
Also, he has declared his eternal love for the club, and that will do.--== Because the gang and the government is no different ==--

fair enough but he isn't a politician is he?Originally posted by tomasjj View PostI just don't think he is very good with the press.
he's a footballer and a great one at that
i think you're being harsh on him, but you said you were in a bad mood, and little things like semi-moronic quotes in the press piss me off when I'm in a bad mood too

I'd rather Carra just stand there and say "We're gonna focken batter em" than all that other nonsense.
Yeah, but without writing it down half the fookin team wouldn't understand what Carra said!
"Even men with steel hearts love to see a dog on the pitch". It generates a warmth around the ground that augurs well for mankind and that's what life's about. Trouble is these days you never see a dog on the pitch".
