See that's what I thought when I heard his name read out. Well, after I thought '****ting Christ WTF is Zenden doing starting!'

It's not like Gonzalez is pulling up any trees. Shame Aurelio got injured when he did really, he was coming into some good form. With Garcia injured too our options were limited. Personally I'd expected Riise to play LM with Arbeloa at LB, but then I didn't realise Finnan was in fact injured.

I would've fancied Pennant to have a go on the left for us, he's looked pretty decent there for us recently. But thinking about it, he'd be cutting in a lot, and with SG liking to drift in that would make us quite narrow against a team whose major vulnerability is out wide. From that pov maybe Zenden was the man to play, but sadly he's just not good enough despite his best efforts.

          I'm guessing you meant no?
Ahh. I thought that the poll was the same as the thread title. i.e. Does he desrve the criticism.

yup..which one of them played that horrible pass across the pitch near the start that nearly cost us a goal?! **** it was nearly as bad as Riise's.

I think the only one of our players that could honestly say they had a good game was Pepe, and Stevie by anyone else's standards was good too, but by his average
"the correct decision would have been a penalty for us a red card for Gattuso and a yellow for Stevie"

We only had a couple of players who performed at a reasonable level you could say, and thankfully one of them was Reina otherwise the tie would have been over tonight. The vast majority of the team was below par.

Pennant? Bellamy with Crouch up front with Kuyt? Speedy? Sami at centre half with Agger moving to left back and Riise on the left?

Any one of those would have been more desireable than watching Zenden do **** all as usual.

                  To be completely honest, no.

But, as I've said all along, I don't think he should be playing, no doubt he does his best, he doesn't pick himself etc etc.

However, I'd rather have seen Pennant on the left or Speedy, only because to my mind, they're more of a threat. Like others have commented, Zenden was the only name on the sheet I thought about and probably therefore focused on him all night shouting for him to be taken off.

As a team we weren't on our game tonight, but I just can't see why Zenden played, especially as he hasn't been great recently when he has got a game.

True that. I struggle to think of any other player apart from those two who had anything resembling a decent game.

As Gray said, Kuyt buzzed around and sweated plenty but nothing to show for it, and he never really looked like scoring. I guess Carra was ok and Zenden was decent by his standards but that really was it. Riise was back to his old spooning around, Arbeloa had a slight mare, Dogbra had Agger's pants down all night, and Xabi and Monster Mash sat in the centre circle doing **** all. And I didn't even notice Bellamy was playing

It's only now I'm realising how below par we actually were, and maybe 1-0 was actually a good result because it could've been a lot worse. Still, we need a proper old Anfield night next week if we're to have any chance of number 6...

By only losing 1-0 we robbed them. As poor a result as that is nowadays away in Europe, they could have easily got 2-3.

[QUOTE=kurtangle01;411474]You can't seriously tell me that you thought he was good tonight. What did he do that helped the team progress?

You crtiticise Stevie but that's one game and even then he still had our 2 best chances and could have scored.

                              What has Zenden ever offered?[/QUOTE}.

Zenden made more chances thann Gerrard did tonight
